    Dangerous gear?

Why do you believe this? The dart is carried in a sheath. It can't hurt anyone while in it's sheath. If you pull it out of the sheath, it has a safety that prevents it from discharging the CO2. It's less dangerous than a knife with the safety on because it only has a sharp point, no sharp...

How deep have you gone on air?

I've gone all the way to the bottom.

Help me plan a 25th anniversary surprise!

Luckily, you have two years before the event. I would suggest spending this summer exploring the different types of diving around Florida. See what you both like the most. Saba has mountain trails (for hiking, not biking). Grenada has beautiul waterfalls. Costa Rica has zip lining.

    Poll: Mask Leakage; 2 Scenarios

I rarely notice when my mask leaks, clearing it is automatic, I rarely notice.

Help me plan a 25th anniversary surprise!

What type of diving do you like? What other activites do you enjoy? Are either of you regular blood donors? If you love reefs with a little wreck diving, want lots of freedom to dive when and where you like, and like exploring nature, go to Bonaire. If either of you are regular blood...

Getting back to diving after 20 years - what to do with old gear?

Most of the changes have been cosmetic. Masks are no better or easier to fit than they were 30 years ago. If it's not beyond repair, don't replace it. I have some new gear that's about as old as your old gear. Have it hydroed, tell them when you drop it off you'll want to see the report...

    PADI vs NAUI

My best of the best would include one NAUI (now also SEI), one PADI, and the rest were all YMCA and SEI instructors. Some of the YMCA instructors were crossed over as PADI, but taught YMCA classes. My worst of the worst would include one NAUI and a bunch of PADI (one of whom I rescued)...

    Swimming Abilities?

If you were with a bunch of friends and someone suggested you all go swimming would you expect folks to show up with mask, snorkel, and fins?

    Swimming Abilities?

There are at least two. They allow you to substitute snorkeling for 300 yd for the 200 yd swim. She puts on the mask, snorkel and fins, puts her face down in the water, stretches out in a prone position, and starts kicking. It's quite easy for non-swimmers to snorkel, I was a fairly...

    Sign language for divers

I studied ASL for 2 years, I got fairly good at it, but there are very few divers who know it, so I can rarely use it as a language while diving. I do use it to communicate in a very limited basis, because I teach a little to my regular buddies and to my students. The biggest use of ASL for...

    Swimming Abilities?

With no swimming aids of any kind, you should be able to swim 300 yds, swim underwater 50 ft on one breath (with no push off), and stay afloat for 15 minutes.

Who makes an integrated/octo that fits 3/4" corrugated hose?

A standard LPI hose will not give you enough air for a regulator. They intentionally make the connection different sizes to stop folks from hooking them up to a standard LPI hose. Either stay with the dedicated octo or switch out your hose.

    NAUI vs PADI

Value is a matter of opinion.

Why junky, why not top of the line?

Everyone doesn't have an unlimited supply of money. Less expensive gear is not necessarily less safe. If one has budget concerns (or even if one doesn't), it is sensible to shop for a better deal.

    NAUI vs PADI

Your analogy is flawed. People don't resell their c-cards.
