Grand Cayman coral - white like snow

Did a couple shore dives on GC today, LOTS of corals are white… looks like it snowed. :(. This was at Sunset house. Heading out on the boat tomorrow. I hope it isn’t as bad elsewhere. Water is 88F according to computers.

Trip Report East end Grand Cayman

Sorry to hear about the coral. I heading down in 3 weeks - west side. I really enjoy Eden Rock, it’s a great place to get reacquainted with gear, weight check etc. before getting on the boats.

Integrated Power Inflators Are A Terrible Idea!

How do the specs of breathing on the AIR2 compare to modern second stages? In the ballpark? Markedly inferior?

Integrated Power Inflators Are A Terrible Idea!

Just curious whether you or your buddies (or any others using one) increase the length of your primary hose (e.g. to typical octo length, not a “long hose” configuration). I could see that a longer primary hose and longer BCD corrugated hose could eliminate two of his negative points. Edit...

    Question Possible Cayman trip

We’ve been going to GC quite frequently, wife is also a non diver. East side is very quiet as is the north. The west side is by far the busiest with traffic, accommodations, dining, activities and dive ops. Not much sargassum and if there is some after a storm they are quick to clean it...

    Grand Cayman for unimpressed newbies?

I’d recommend Cayman University Divers, small groups (most divers I’ve had on board is 4 - Sept/Oct, a couple of trips 2). Brad Nelson (decades of dive experience) will curate the dives if you wish (one way comms). He’s very good and knowledgeable about marine life- he once brought along big a...

    Grand Cayman for unimpressed newbies?

I think GC is a great choice. I’d recommend staying on the west side, most dive ops operate and pick up there. Lots of easy shore dives too with food and drink on site. I think new divers would love it.

Oceanic compass card off kilter - tricks to fix?

Yep.. motorsickles is the other hobby/avocation/disease. These recreations keep me poor. Those 1290’s are awesome… a beast of a bike.

Oceanic compass card off kilter - tricks to fix?

No change in hemispheres. It’s useable but annoying and will likely be a bit awkward on a dive. Thanks for the DGX suggestion.

Oceanic compass card off kilter - tricks to fix?

Hi all. Pulled my gear out of storage and noticed my Oceanic compass card has tilted. The card spins fine, its just that depending on your bearing you have to tilt the compass to get the card level in the viewing window. Anyone have any tricks for correcting this? Thanks.
