Where did you solo dive today?

No, we are not mad or bad. We know that many buddy divers are, in effect, solo divers. We, on the other hand, are just solo divers and we take the precautions needed.

Question Help with choosing new computer

The choice between analog and digital runs deep. Analog is physical and unpowered, digital is interpreted and relies on a battery. In some extreme cases, emergencies, analog gauges are easier to understand. A digital gauge requires you to read the digits, then understand them. An analog gauge...

Question Help with choosing new computer

Some of us reject the idea of air integration. And yet we can do some serious dives. Some people love the idea of seeing the remaining air on a screen, though. Air integration is not a key feature. It is a nice thing to have in case you love it. Buhlman algorithm (if you become a decompression...

New Account and Exciting New Product

Now, if we think about the industry, there will be tens of thousands of divers who would love a mask that can do fish identification. They wouldn't spend 1000 on a mask though. They want it for free.

Question Help with choosing new computer

This is just a guess: I believe that their biggest problem was that the device had great features and a very low price and it got very popular then but it was not mature enough for mass sales. It had some problems, and I guess they did not have the resources to provide support. Then Covid19...

    Newbie Here!

I had a 7ft hose and we were instructed to grab the hose (not the 2nd stage) while donating air. There are reasons for such a procedure. The problem could have been avoided had I been more alert or with changes to equipment.

    Newbie Here!

Welcome :) I had a similar set-up until I had to donate air. During an air sharing exercise the second stage rotated upside down and did not perform well at all in that position. Please be carefull with that 90 degree fitting, if it can rotate.

As long as you can survive a catastrophic dry suit flooding. My dive buddys suit flooded with near freezing water. A drysuit cannot be relied for buoyancy. There must be an independent backup with enough lift.

The weight pocket. One could thread the weights on the harness webbing instead and maybe have more flexibility.

Question Help with choosing new computer

divecomputer.eu (in Poland) used to sell a lucrative dive computer but it wasn't quite mature enough and then support issues and other stuff (I guess) made them fail. If you would be able to find one of those, it might be a solution - especially as you are in Poland. You'd need to talk face to...

    Diving while taking Prozac

You do not need to take the strongest possible blend. You could choose, on medical grounds, something that has a more modest excess of oxygen. You need to consult a hyperbaric doctor, or Divers Alert Network. I am not qualified to give you advice. The key things to learn on a nitrox course are...

Question Help with choosing new computer

It's time to learn to watch the analog SPG then. If you follow the rule of thirds, you'll not need a computer making predictions on remaining air. Besides, the computer cannot know such things as swimming with vs. against the current. Or maybe you get a Mares Puck / Suunto Zoop / Suunto Vyper...

Question Be Part of the Evolution: Influence the Next Generation of SCUBA Gear

An ultra clear lens is not needed in such environments, where gauges need to be inside the mask. A typical situation mandating your mask would be zero viz. If visibility is good, you'll face fierce competition. I hope you succeed as the product sounds great! If your target audience is willing...

Question Be Part of the Evolution: Influence the Next Generation of SCUBA Gear

That's good for professional use, where the cost is acceptable. One problem though: public safety divers often use full face masks and commercial divers have their helmets. So... you need to sell this mask to hobbyists and volunteers I guess. And to people who can afford that luxury. You'll...

Question Be Part of the Evolution: Influence the Next Generation of SCUBA Gear

Indeed. I do a lot of zero visibility diving (search and recovery) and I would benefit hugely from depth, time, compass, air, ... but that thing was so expensive I had to choose older methods (such as: try to guess when a full circular search is done; guess depth based on ear equalizations...

Question Be Part of the Evolution: Influence the Next Generation of SCUBA Gear

We need depth, dive time, orientation (compass). Ascent rate warnings, air integration and average depth would be nice, too, but please make this somewhat affordable or you'll experience the Oceanic DataMask fate.

Where did you solo dive today?

A local former sand quarry in South-Western Finland with tree stumps, lake mussels and other stuff. Details: Depth 9 to 15 feet. Temperature 25C/77F (surface) to 15C/59F (bottom). Visibility about 2m or 6 feet. Equipment: one 7 litre 200 bar steel cylinder hand held, one Apeks regulator, a dive...

First post from an excited new member!

Diving is the art of swimming (and doing stuff) underwater. Forward, backwards, sideways, reversing while turning and descending. There are so many ways to move in three dimensions! Many of us reverse with fins, others with hands, yet others with both. The number of different kicks is large...
