    How to restore a Scubapro D300, D350 & D400: Theory and Practice

I work on all my regulators except the D400. When it comes time for servicing my D400 off it goes to @rsingler for his special treatment. He has parts and is meticulous in his work. If you have an active D series regulator or one that has been gathering dust for years I would urge anyone to take...

    Closed Octopus needed

Sometimes it can't be helped, but price should not be at the top of your priorities for an octopus. That said, the Cressi XS is a popular, low priced second that is simple and reliable. It is serviceable but nothing you'll be bragging about. It is a hard breather.

    Used Regulator Purchase (Help)

The second stage looks like a unbalanced r190? If so, and the first stage is a mk2, I personally would stay away. An unbalanced first and second stage together will breathe harder as tank pressure goes down. A lot of people dive this combo so it is not critical, just not ideal. It is cheap...

    The New Atomic TFX

Atomic's website lists both DIN and Yoke TFX out of stock, but a number of US retailers mention stock on hand. Perhaps titanium fabrication is a complication. I'd probably reach for my wallet for a $600. brass Atomic center balanced second.

    The New Atomic TFX

I went on a Google safari today to see who's talking about the TFX... and it seems no one is. The most recent mention of the TFX on the Atomic Facebook page was 12/7/2023. No new videos. No new reviews. No nothing. What's happening?

    Question Argonaut Kraken Owner

The breathing dynamics of the double hose reg change continuously underwater as the vertical relationship between the lungs and can change. One moment it will be breathing hard and the next you'll be blowing bubbles through your ears. Nature of the beast.

    Question Argonaut Kraken Owner

There are not a lot of Argonauts around and there's always someone looking for one. If you decide to sell it don't take a loss. If you decide to keep it, they are not difficult to dive and can be serviced without special tools. Have fun.

Question Is a Mk25 overkill for recreational tropical water dives?

I’m glad you read and agree with my post #25! And I especially appreciate your saying there is no one best fit. You could almost say, that depending on usage “The mk25 is no better or worse than many other first stages.”

Question Is a Mk25 overkill for recreational tropical water dives?

Neither of your analogies are very good. As I pointed out, any first stage carries out a very simple function, and most first stages, regardless of price, fulfill that function very well. If you choose to think of your regulator as a luxury car, I will let you go on with that fantasy. But...

Question Is a Mk25 overkill for recreational tropical water dives?

The purpose of the first stage is to provide a relatively stable intermediate pressure with sufficient flow reliably. This is not a high bar and any popular first stage can do it. Beyond this there are features like port layout, balanced/unbalanced, piston/diaphragm, sealed/unsealed, ease of...

Attaching heel straps/bungies/springs to fins without them?

On the down-kick the fins form a pocket and propel a lot of water. On the up-kick the convex surface slips through the water with little effect. When surface swimming with the FFs I slap the surface a lot on the down-kick. The powerful down-kick and the effortless recovery up-kick is what makes...
