So, back to my original question to @Nautilus Explorer: In what way is the nexGen superior to the Gen2 in ease of use, effectiveness, or added features. I'm interested in upgrading, but I'm unsure of what the benefits would be.

Most, if not all, digital cameras filter UV at the sensor. A UV filter on the lens is not needed.

With enough thought and effort you can make most any mask fog free. Things that you can't change are fit, comfort, volume, FOV, color, and overall quality.

I would be more concerned with the d420 than either of the first stages mentioned. Make sure your local dive shop has experience servicing the d420. It's a lot different than what they normally working on.
