Question Noob wants to know about ScubaPro D400

One complication with the D400 is there are two versions: one with a metal orifice like the D350 and and a later model with a plastic orifice. The metal is preferred, but the plastic is OK, also. Different service kits required.

Question Noob wants to know about ScubaPro D400

I service all my stuff except my D400. That I send off to @rsingler. He’s got the knowledge and the parts and the patience to coax the reg to perform at its full potential.

    The New Atomic TFX

With enough rationalization and a dip into the slush fund I could get a TFX. But with its over the top pricing and its marketing to "Connoisseurs" I just get annoyed with Atomic's tactics.

    Suggestion for Perdix Replacement Case

One of my favorite things about Shearwater is the case they provide. Semi rigid, breathable, and offering a snug fit for the Perdix with clip straps, an aa battery, and a couple of batteries for my transmitters. In fact, I have a couple of transmitter cases I use for watches.

Question Miflex hose on a G250

I use a 24" Miflex hose with a swivel adapter at the second stage. Gives me room to move my head without an annoyingly large loop. 30" would definitely be too much for me.

    Interesting EBay RAM being sold

Very few options for a DH regulator with standard HP/LP ports. Would be nice to know if this reg also had the upgraded demand valve. The Phoenix is a marvel of design and build. I was lucky to get mine, along with the HPR and DSV from Brian during the DH resurrection years. I also had a...

Don't be silly. I'm not offended by the Mk11.

    Weights of titanium first stages

I like titanium because it's: 1) Pretty 2) Corrosion free 3) Light 4) Has its own special place on the Periodic Table 5) Cool I started out with watches where the light weight really does make a difference. I know that a Titanium regulator is hard to justify for practical reasons. But I'm sure...

    Tears in my Force Fins

Perhaps packing in luggage can put unnatural stress in the FFs? When packing mine I am careful to pad the fins to maintain their natural curves.

Help identifying 1st stage us divers

Take a careful look at the point where the low pressure air enters the plastic body of the second stage. Old US Divers plastic seconds would often crack at this point. Also keep in mind that the first stage is unbalanced. I regularly dive the USD Conshelf first stage, but keep an Aquarius...

DGX Gears vs HOG regulators, which would you choose? why?

I like DGX because it is a no nonsense company that will sell you service kits with no strings attached for a fair price. They also have clear assembly/ disassembly videos for their regs so you can do it yourself.

    backup computer

I dive a Perdix and a Garmin Descent Mk1. They both use Buhlmann and track very closely. I like the Garmin because it gives me tactile alarms for ascent rate and a Nitrogen loading graph for quick reference.
