    Making The Scuba Industry Better

OP: Surely, an important part of the "Scuba Industry" is the large body of already-certified divers, boat operators, DM's, etc. I'm ridiculously generous with my time and I love to help newbies. But .... I have had many vacation dives messed up by new divers who didn't know how much weight to...

    Making The Scuba Industry Better

Maybe this was the tipoff: "We have to assume that someone - somewhere decided there was a good reason to require two days. I don't know who that was or when, but I do know there is no good reason for it."

    Gas Management Questions?

Bob (NWgratefuldiver) has a terrific writeup on this and its helped me a lot. I would definitely print out his stuff and read it and tuck it into your log book. But as to your question, I think the point of rock bottom is to get BOTH divers to the surface in case one of them goes OOG.

    Hello

Hi Mike, welcome aboard. There is a lot of good stuff here and you can learn a whole lot more about all kinds of diving.

    Dacor darwin ai computer repair

This is a long shot, but ..... My Suunto Cobra was stuck due to a dried accumulation of salts around the pressure sensor, but when I poked around the sensor with a chopstick, it freed up and started working again.

    Hard to operate bc buttons.

I replaced our inflator valves with Apeks valves - They are well designed, work smoothly, and I LOVE them.

    Individual Rights, and other Myths

DavidJames - That was Weird... But it does remind me of one reason why I love diving, and that is the LACK of "organization". I love the complete freedom of doing my own thing, and I think many divers feel the same way.

    7 Dives A Day

I've been on boats that ran 5 dives a day - 2 morning, 2 afternoon, and 1 night - for several days running. I don't do them all 'cause I'm too old and lazy, but many of the young tigers did, and on air, too. I like Nitrox on those multi-day deals. I guess the thing that puzzles me is this...

The definition of Recreational Diving vs. Technical.

No, that isn't Thal. That was some other guy up on the mountain, building a fire or something. Here is a photo of Thal awarding OW certs to his first class:

The definition of Recreational Diving vs. Technical.

That is not "Hagrid", whoever that is. That was my original Scuba instructor, and those are the dive tables we used. They doubled as weights, and if you ditched them, you had to chisel new ones. Some people look at him and think he is looking up at God, but actually in this photo, Thal is...

    Decompression and the recreational diver

You can't do the decompression stop without the gas, And you won't have the gas unless you planned for it, And you can't plan for it without the knowledge, And you won't have the knowledge without the training, And you won't get the training in a recreational course.

"This has not changed, so why is it under constant discussion lately?"

Not sure what you mean by "Lead is the slowest compartment" ??? While tables may not include the slowest compartments, dive computers do. What would happen if he did the dives and simply followed his dive computer?

Hey Thal! I think I read about this method of decompression calculation - Don't they call it "Dead Reckoning"?

Do You Consider Solo Diving to be Recreational or Technical?

"My right is bigger than yours!" A little poem. A young friend came to the house today We talked about a sport we like to play He used a curse word - just in jest I put my finger to my lips in mild protest. "Not in front of my kids", I said. "But you use that word all the time!" "Yes, but not...

    7 Dives A Day

Me, too. Without knowing the OP's intentions or the area, I would have assumed square profiles because they are more conservative and photographers tend to sit on the bottom. Would square profiles with safety stops put him outside NDLs?

Thal, are you saying he will be a group D diver?

    7 Dives A Day

DevonDiver, thank you for the referral Unfortunately the version we have released (Nitrox) so far supports only series of 5 dives. However, I did plug in the sequence of 24 dives mentioned by the OP (I used typical multilevel profiles with 3 minutes safety stops too) in our - unreleased -...

    7 Dives A Day

Thanks, Alberto, Very impressive - I'm interested in your dive planning products.:D If I understand you correctly, you are saying the OP should be okay with his original dive plan, as laid out in posts #1 and #4, assuming "typical multilevel profiles with 3 minutes safety stops". Then you add...

    Individual Rights, and other Myths

Hi Avonthediver, "Reckless" means acting impulsively, without thinking about consequences or taking responsibility for the outcome. We are all guilty of that to some degree, and as we get older we (hopefully) learn from our experiences. Edison, Ford, and Jobs are examples of GOOD...
