If you are in Key West and itching for a dive I suggest you look up Andrew Solomon with SouthPoint Divers. Andrew is a dedicated GUE diver working toward his Fundamentals instructor certification. I hired Andrew as a guide for half a day and got so much more. When my brand new Deep Outdoors wing...
I just finished my last dive. Over the past three days I dove with both Silent World and Rainbow Reef. Both were great but I would give Rainbow the top slot. I was supposed to do two dives with Silent and one with Rainbow. I liked Rainbow so much I booked a second dive and took a rain check from...
I must admit I questioned the sanity of the design when I looked at the wing at my LDS. The amount of force required to open the valve is substantial, much more than I expected. The person that sold me the wing assured me she had the same one and had used the tug dump many times without...
Update
The new predator wing arrived in time for my first dive which was great. The dives went very well. In terms of bouancy and trim the predator is an improvement over my original. I am however concerned about the design. Particularly the pair of grommet holes on both sides of the bottom...
I can't recall the model name. It's the 30lbs+ cave cut. DO is actually sending me the predator wing as a replacement. The model was just released in June. The DO site doesn't even have a photo yet. I should also mention that the diving was so damn awesome that even watching my LPI hose float...
It seperated at the point where the ring inside the bladder meets the ring on the outside. There are now chunks of broken plastic inside the bladder. It can't be fixed without replacing the bladder. Luckily for me I got friendly with on of the DM's and he loaned me his Halcyon wing for the rest...
2 weeks ago I spec'd out and bought a new wing from Deep Outdoors. Today on my second dive the LPI hose seperated from the wing. The plastic ring the secures the LPI to the wing cracked and snapped off as I was tugging on it to release air. This was a standard maneuver with this any and one I've...
I'll be down there next week. I've booked my dives with Silent World & Rainbow Reef based on advice I got from other SB members. I'll post notes when it's all done. Assuming I survive that this... ;)

I'm not sure what your financial situation is but DUI is doing a 12 month same-as-cash promotion. I just saw the ad in this month's PADI Sport Diver magazine.
Thanks. The only possible slot I have left open is Saturday morning. But that is a bit sketchy because I am flying out from Ft. Lauderdale Sunday afternoon. I would be right up against the limit on minimum no fly time for repetitive dives. That's probably not a smart thing for me to do on my...
Well I got everything booked over the weekend. I guess there is no backing out now unless there's a hurricane. Thanks everyone for all the very helpful advice and encouragement on this, my first dive trip. I'm sure my trip will be better thanks to all of you.
Which is bang on why I bought a BP&W and am holding off on regulators for a bit. A BP&W configuration is maximum flexibility for not much money. It's easy to spend a lot of money on a regulator that won't grow with me or is more than I need.
I don't know where you rent but I certainly don't pay $50 per dive just for tank & regs. Full value for my dollar is based on several factors. But the the two most important are bottom time and risk of a bad purchase. Spending a portion of almost every dive adjusting to a rental BCD is IMHO an...
It didn't take many dives for me to realize the only way I am going to get full value for my dive dollar is by having my own BCD rig. I still rent nearly everything else. I'll be damned if I am going to pay another $100+ for a half day at a resort only to spend half the morning adjusting to...
