Just thought I would update. He got kinda lucky , he was able to send a message to primary and not even have to go in and pay for appointment. Primary said he saw no contraindications other then possibly a fever that came and went everyday for 6 to 8 months that they never found cause for. The...
Ok so let's say an area has visibility of 10 feet. Would that mean at 10 feet I wouldn't be able to see a fellow diver or could I see them but not make out much detail?
Silly question but how is visibility measured underwater and what types of things effect visibility in freshwater? Are there certain things you can look for to gauge how visibility might be before you get to dive site?
I would be driving probably no sooner than 12 hours after the fact. I went to Google maps and put in my two points for directions and switched to bicycling and it showed me elevations. The tallest point along trip route is 2116 feet.
So it sounds like as long as my computer is set up properly...
I apologise if this is in the wrong section.
I was curious if there are any other considerations besides theoretical depths when diving at altitude? I plan on doing some dives around 2000 feet above sea level next year.
I plan on buying 2 sets of equipment soon (BCD, regulators, gauges/computer) and was wondering if there are usually good Black Friday deals for packages and are they worth waiting for?
Actually thinking of planning a family trip for 1000 islands next year. Any recommendations for shore diving locations? Want to rent a place for a week.
@fmerkel
Totally understand no one here can clear him. Again if it's a definite no go then he doesn't want to waste time and money on Drs visits at this time.
He says he was treated for sleep apnea for 3 months prior to the PFTs and was/is 100% compliant. AHI was under 2 during that time but he...
@fmerkel
I would say about 6 foot probably around 230ish lbs so overweight but not morbid by any means. Recently he started running doing the couch to 5k and has been able to keep up with that.
@Duke Dive Medicine
No inhaled medications given between tests. Pulmonologist originally thought...
Hopefully this is better. I guess coaching was presumably good, had them do it a couple times to verify consistent results. They have sleep apnea and had to increase pressure while sleeping to prevent hypoxia even though lower pressure adequately controlled the apnea events. The pulmonologist...
Have a friend who is now interested in getting certified as well. They were asking me how to answer medical question on form and if it was worth pursuing diving?
Basically they went to drs a year or two ago for some shortness of breath that is gone. They did some breathing tests, first time it...
Thanks for the info. My wife and I both just got certified so we would likely dive together.
I'll definitely do that. Maybe I'll get a notebook to got down their answers and go to a local dive shop and pick their brains as well.
I'm from the Rochester area and just got certified and looking for some help.
Are there any rules regarding diving locations? Can I dive in any public body of water? What should i take into consideration when choosing a dive Location?
Thanks for your help.
Dive shops locally rent out 7mm wetsuits like you said. One of the lakes I want to dive turns over completely twice a year. Any idea how that would effect overall temp of lake? Would the temp difference from top to bottom be less?
I can see myself diving in the finger lakes and also some lakes up in Adirondacks. I'm assuming water temps will be 60 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit and once a year maybe a couple tropical dives. I'm thinking early summer to early fall unless I go somewhere tropical.
