I’ve often thought of going that route, but my flight times never seem to work out. The Lomprayah VIP bus isn’t bad and slightly cheaper. Not that the price difference in £ is that much.
The biggest issue I see in CBL drills, is when the rescuer is using both their suit and BCD to stay neutral during a dive, but unable to manage 4 expanding bubbles on the ascent. The result is either a Polaris ascent, separation or a plummet to the bottom.
I agree using the rescuer’s BCD isn’t...
I teach using the casualty’s buoyancy device to perform a CBL, I can understand teaching a CBL using your own buoyancy device, with the assumption there won’t be anything in the casualty’s cylinder.
This is the scenario BSAC trains as part of core training.
* Ocean Divers practice a Controlled Buoyant Lift (CBL) 6m to surface, then a 5-10m tow - as the boat or surface cover should come to help.
* Sports Divers practice a CBL from 10m to 6m, then rescue breaths and tow.
* Dive Leaders...
An analysis of the BSAC incident reports in the early 2000’s revealed that a number of fatalities were attributed to divers who had surfaced, but subsequently sank and drowned as a result on not ditching their weight belts on the surface. As such a drill was introduced at all dived grades where...
Like all electronics they’re either on or off, there is no in between. Similarly, my Suunto transmitter was good one day the next it didn’t switch on. But then I had exceeded the recommended dives by 50 and the replacement time by a year.
Yes, they do breed. I’ve now got 2 x 12Lt 300bar, 3 x 12.2Lt 232bar and 2 x 10Lt 232bar, plus a 3Lt 232bar pony. Give options for different dive types.
That’s such at open ended question.
Is the new kit for your personal diving or teaching students.
Are you teaching as part of a shop or doing your own thing (remember in the U.K. you have to follow the Diving at work Regulations, which means you can’t teach open water on your own).
The only way you're going to get a fully inflated DSMB it to secure it to the bottom, inflate then let it go.
When I let mine go from 6m I'll normally complete the fil at the surface, if I need to.
Never used the train, but the Lomprayah VIP bus/ferry, 21:00 from BK gets into KT around 10:00.
You need THB20 cash on arrival to pay the port fee. Check if your hotel is sending a driver to meet at the ferry.
Last time there I called in. The new owner gave me the grand marketing spiel, but what I saw didn’t live up to the hype. I said thanks, but went diving with DJL.
I’ve only done KL during the dry season, but some operators stay open year round. Contact a few and see what they offer.
As @Centrals says Master Divers is now under new management and from their FB posts are just another training factory. I was going to give Hydronauts, a RAID operator, a try...
