Dive sites and OP's on south end of 7MB of Grand Cayman

Well, from a dive shop location south of Eden Rock you have Don Fosters - Boat and Shore Diving in Cayman Islands | Don Foster's Dive , south of that you have Sunset Divers at Sunset House - https://www.sunsethouse.com/scuba-diving - but I think they tend to focus off the dive sites on the west...

Whats the best way to get around Grand Cayman?

So now the confusion continues... I figured I would go straight to the source - Inspector Ian Yearwood who is in charge of the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit of the RCIPS and got this answer back: So maybe we were ALL wrong! I have messaged caymanresident.com to get them to independently...

Whats the best way to get around Grand Cayman?

There is definitely some conflicting information out there, for sure. So I did some digging... The DMV makes no mention at Visitors Permit of an alternative to a Visitors Permit. However, The Traffic Bill, 2011 states: The Cayman Resident website also backs this up at Driving Licence Rules...

Whats the best way to get around Grand Cayman?

I think AAA didn't charge me for the photos because I was a member, so my cost was $20 US. And I agree that for one trip you are no further ahead. However I, and some others, make multiple trips a year and for that it's definitely worth it. The Cayman visitors one is good for only up to 6 months.

Hepps Dive Sites as Shore Dives and Coconut Bay

Well, "fed up" is a bit inaccurate. Divers actually are a good bunch in general and, as the road and the dive station is to the side of the property, most owners and residents didn't even know they were there unless they went looking. I would say that this is mostly about liability and a...

Whats the best way to get around Grand Cayman?

I don't think that is correct - For several years now I have bought an "International Driving Permit" from AAA in the USA and it has been accepted by all the rental agencies we have used on Cayman. AAA IDP International Driving Permit $20 US and it lasts for a year, which covers 2 visits for...

Hepps Dive Sites as Shore Dives and Coconut Bay

I agree - getting there from Turtle Reef, or from a boat, or staying in the complex are all still options. There is a mooring buoy right at the site.

The Sargassum Weed Influx Has Hit All 3 Cayman Islands Very Hard

I can confirm from personal experience these past two weeks that it is a big problem on the south and east shores of Grand Cayman. West Bay, Seven Mile Beach and George Town shores have remained free of it. Rum Point had a problem about 3 weeks ago but it cleared out about 10 days ago - the...

Hepps Dive Sites as Shore Dives and Coconut Bay

There have been several threads over the past few months talking about the shore dives from Coconut Bay - specifically the Hepps Pipeline and Hepps Wall sites. While they are excellent dives, the facilities on shore are owned by the Coconut Bay Condominium Association (STRATA). I am an owner...

So Terry, what sort of write times are you experiencing now?

Any update on DC2000 RAW Shooting delays?

I am so very happy with my DC2000 for my dive photography needs. As others have said in this forum and in other places, the main annoyance is the delay when shooting in JPG+RAW mode between the shutter firing and the camera being available again for the next shot. Has anyone heard anything...

What wetsuit do I need in Grand Cayman?

Thanks for posting this topic - it's an interesting one. I found the comment that dive computers can report quite a few degrees difference in temperatures from other brands to be interesting and a bit disheartening. I mean, I keep my log with all the water temps that my computer has in order...

    Tipping Question

Here is where I struggle with the tipping - if you have had a fantastically prepared, attractively-plated meal, do you tip the kitchen staff that actually made it, or just the person that brought the plate to your table? Why should only the front of house people get the tips?

New booking policy for Clearly Cayman Beach Resorts

So the few days hop over to dive the sister islands still isn't going to be an option unless it's booked within 90 days if I read that correctly. Shame. In this boom time right now, I see several condo rentals on Grand Cayman also going to Sat-Sat, in an effort to further squeeze a little more...

New booking policy for Clearly Cayman Beach Resorts

Well, I guess that when I do my shorter trip to the sister islands in future I won't be staying at any of their places or diving with them. Shame. I had heard good things about it.

Where should we eat in Grand Cayman?

Too many options and I can agree and disagree with just about any list that is published. For the record I have eaten at Calico Jack's. It's bar food. Good bar food, though, of course (this is Cayman!). I wouldn't go there for a meal, but it caters well to the "man I could use something to...

Feedback on Grand Cayman dive sites for new guidebook

As the Hepps Pipeline dive site is accessible by boat (there is a public mooring there) there is no problem with mapping it as boat site. I just would err on the side of caution and not flag it as a shore diving site. About contacting Stingray Watersports for permission - they do not own the...
