Yes, the southern end of SMB is usually subject to erosion, I have found - far more than the central areas (Ritz, Kimpton) or the northern end of the beach. Thanks for that update.

Which part of SMB were you at? I do find it varies along the length quite a bit.

I couldn't get the QR code to work so just uploaded the CDC card images into the Travel Cayman website and it worked fine.

Eden Rock suffered from some damage from a wayward cruise ship - the swim-throughs were closed for a while - not sure if they are open again. They were one of the few shore-dive swim-throughs, but apart from that I didn't consider it a great dive site - I would do Sunset House over Eden Rock...

The only place in the world that the crime rate is zero is where there aren't any humans :) I talked to a lot of locals during my trip and nobody mentioned petty theft being up.

Most storms are brief and localised. There are some exceptions where lousy weather can set in. This Saturday looks decent with a wind out of the East, so the whole West Side should be divable - if you want a dive after you arrived, head to Macabuca and do Turtle Reef. Sunday, Monday and...

Grand Cayman has really low crime rates. As long as you don't have anything obviously valuable in your car then it's not going to get broken in to (it may not get broken in to even if you DO have something valuable). And leave the keys at the front desk.

Have a car, would be my first tip. :-) Take a look at which direction the wind is coming from and head to a beach that is on the leeward side of that. There are some nice protected beaches. A drive around the island can be fun, too - if you are staying on the west side of the island, lunch...

Thanks for the TR - like you I am not impressed by Lighthouse Point as a shore dive. Turtle Reef @ Macabuca is far superior, imo.
