Water temps in the TN river at Chattanooga were 45 F a couple weeks ago, you'd have been hating life diving wet. Even diving dry I was pretty chilled after a long 75 minn dive.

Diving dry is much more comfortable in Loch Low, especially below that thermocline. Plus it opens up much more of the season.

I'm not sure about the talc for storage purposes. It's function is to ease putting the gaskets on. Talc is very inert (if no other additives like scents), but I don't see it as "stabilizing" the gaskets for storage. If anything, the talc is highly absorbent, and may over time leach...

I'm fine with delaying, I'd like to come up when someone in the area could go diving with me anyway.

What time is this kicking off? Is there a cheapy motel nearby, as after a few beers (few dozen???) I won't feel like driving two hours to get home.

It's pretty cold. I dived there in October, and the strong current makes the temp feel colder (sort of like wind chill) because it pushes water though every opening, which would make diving wet in the colder water tough. I dove dry, but still the water was blowing under and through my hood...
