If you were to buy a computer today for under $450, what would you choose???

Suunto Mosquito, bought one from www.Divetank.net and after a bit of inquiry found they do not sell grey market products (my fear) and the warranty is from Fitzwright Co. Ltd in B.C. Canada, so there are no warranty issues (like leisurepro.com). I have used an Oceanic DataMax for nearly 10...

Scubapro-Uwatec and price gouging on battery replacements

Shakazulu hit it right on the head. User changeable batteries was one of the highest priority of features for me when I bought my Oceanic (aka US Divers Scan4) computer 10 years ago. This also allows me to carry extra batteries on a long trip, like a live-aboard where a computer battery...

Vytek and D9 more liberal settings?

I use air in my tank but run my computer in Nitrox mode and adjust the PO2 to 1.5 or 1.6 from the default of 1.4, thereby giving you a more liberal setting.

    Suunto authorized dealers

Bought the mosquito from Divetank which ends up to be an authorized Suunto dealer named "FitzWright Co. Ltd." in Langley, B.C. Canada. I wanted to make sure I was buying from an authorized dealer prior to purchasing and called, then double checked Suunto's website of authorized dealers as I...

Need 5 dives in SD this week

Shakazulu wrote: Very simple, his wife is an accountant and drives the Lexus. He told her that it would be better for him to buy a tank, that way he will save money. She ripped out the calculator and viola, at 15 dives a month, he should be able to break even in two years. Dive Ryan...

Take Part: Coastal Cleanup Dive Sept 18th.

We were going to do the canyon but there were some equipment issues so did the redondo pier. We did see the toxic bio-hazard warnings and hesitated for a bit, but still proceeded. Vis was sub-10 feet and the pier has lots of trash, many being fisherman's frozen bait bags. At the end of the...

Take Part: Coastal Cleanup Dive Sept 18th.

Roland - we went for the Wed evening nightdive last night and didn't see you. There sure was A LOT of trash, esp plastic bags. It is a dive like this that really encourages me to want to participate in Saturday's clean up event. Fisherman's frozen bait bags seem to be seen FAR too often -...

Take Part: Coastal Cleanup Dive Sept 18th.

Hooray "Dive N Surf" After reading this I went in today for the first time (just moved here) and it was a great shop but they were busy and the sign up sheets were on the computer display case and just labelled A, B, C or D for different events. Way too confusing for me to tell the "Lobster...

    mosquito and suunto serial interface

You need to buy a USB to serial port adapter which costs about $50 in US - then install the drivers that SHOULD make the port transparent. Then install the suunto software. Quite frankly, the Suunto company should realize that serial interfaces have not been used in high end laptops for...

    Suunto authorized dealers

Doing a google search I see the best deals are Canadian companies that also service USA by having co-dealer offices just across the border: www.diverswholesale.com *CLICK HERE* mosquito + PC interface + spare battery + case + shipping is $399 USD www.divetank.net *CLICK HERE* mosquito...

    indonesia vs. malaysia

scubashooter is right: [I] personally would not spend money going to Wakatobi the resort. Their diving practices, accomodations, facilities and food are not worth the money. Better to go by liveaboard to Tukang Besi Islands and the Take Bone Rate archipelago. It's very easy to run from Komodo...

Looking for a good location to dive

Bali - Airfare from Bangkok (BKK) is 9,000 - to 13,000 Baht ($200-300 USD) probably cheaper and the divin g is absolutely spectacular on the North Side of Bali at Menjangen Island. Travel/Lodging at the town of Lovina is $8-9 CDN per night and wonderful - be sure to save energy to do the nature...

    Manado Info

alc16 - Don't be paranoid, just stay away from the crowded tourist areas. I was in Bali several times before and after the bombing, saw the Sari club and NEVER wanted to enter it - I have had many other opportunities to see Aussie guys and Danish/Swedish girls getting pissed before, no need...

    north sulawesi

Last year I went to Wakatobi and was so dissappointed at the resort that I won't pay $250 per night unless it has good air (the increased filtration systems required by Pharmaceutical grade air - as in NITROX systems) and more Diving variety. Keep in mind there are a lot of disadvantages with a...

    PNG, Komodo or Wakatobi?

I have heard experienced photog divers claim that the Eastern Fields on the Golden Dawn were the best trips of their Dive history. I trust and respect their opinions and look forward to going myself.
