How to get the protective seal off goggles?

That is what I meant as well.

Is Honor's Legacy liveaboard still operating in the Maldives??

I'm going to the Maldives in the end of December and when I booked the trip this spring it was supposed to be on the Honor's Legacy. However, at some point in late spring it was changed to M/Y Blue Voyager (same company, Blue O Two). No reason was given, but I got the impression that Blue...

    Log book dinosaur?

I still have a paper log as a backup, but it felt a little rudimentary to me. I don't trust logging programs on a computer, because hard drives can fail, computers can be stolen, developing programs may be discontinued and they may become outdated and unusable. Also, I would have to haul the...

How to get the protective seal off goggles?

Spitting works, but after doing it for about 50-70 dives and never getting an even result (always some smaller or larger patches that would fog) I tried toothpaste with a crystal clear lens and never went back. Not to mention spitting looks kind of gross. It's still a perfectly fine backup plan.

Is a 5mm wetsuit okay to use.....

Water is thermonetral at 35 C, so below this most people lose body heat without adequate exposure protection. Physical activity is a factor as well, although usually not a huge one during recreational diving as you are not supposed to exert yourself much. But if you spend the entire dive...

How to get the protective seal off goggles?

Yes, that is true, and I hope I made that clear in my first post. The one you quoted was to answer a different question, as I also wanted to point out that the usefulness of toothpaste in keeping your mask clear of fog does not end with the first time cleaning. I will add a note to my earlier...

How to get the protective seal off goggles?

Never had that problem with toothpaste. Then again, I have only used dish washing soap a couple of times when provided by the operator, so the mask leaking on those dives may be just a coincidence. I think the important thing is to make sure it doesn't spill on the part that seals the mask...

How to get the protective seal off goggles?

I would try to avoid using abrasive toothpaste, although I doubt it would scratch the lense too badly. Just scrub and rinse the lens(es) several times (3 should be enough not to miss any spots). Moreover, I also carry some toothpaste with me when diving. Mix a small amount with a couple of...

    Alternobaric Vertigo?

There is a chance she got a perilymph fistula or similar inner ear problem that caused the symptoms. In that case hearing loss may result from repeated exposure to unequalized pressure. It is hard to tell from the information in the original post. I would advice to consult a diving physician...

    GoPro Filters???

One of the higher, if not highest, quality filters that more than one professional underwater photographer has recommended to me is the Magic Filters brand. Their main business is in developing quality filters for underwater compact and DSLR cameras with advanced white balance correction, but I...

Trying to understand my air consumption

Also, although I think you probably have already thought of this, but remember not to mix dives where there has been more than a slight current with dives without current, as it will either give you a really high (swimming against the current) or quite low (swimming or coasting along the...

Trying to understand my air consumption

I think you may have missed my point there, although it could be because of the way I presented it. Yes, it does not affect the calculation, which is why most people may have the false idea that it does not affect the results in any way. For example, I've done about 30 dives in tropical...

Trying to understand my air consumption

One significant thing people often forget about things that affect your gas consumption calculations is change in temperature. Where I dive all diving is basically drysuit diving. If you fill up a tank with a portable compressor on the sunny deck of a boat and shortly after equip the tank and...

    Your biggest "lessons learned"

I can't stress enough the importance of taking this seriously. A great deal of diving accidents (might even be the majority) happen on the surface, and entry into the water is especially dangerous. After all, that's when you will find out if you missed a problem with your gear during the...

Red Filter ruined footage, can it be cleaned up?

Likely you will need software that can manipulate color channels, removing from red and adding to green and blue, as needed, to make use of the footage. Most entry level software don't have this capability. Years ago I downloaded free software called DaVinci, which had pretty good color...

    Cozumel Diving Possible From Tulum?

The cenotes are definitely the main diving attraction in Tulum, but it won't be a problem to find ocean dives for a day or two. I did some dives outside the Tankah beach and there were several dive spots in the vicinity. The Casa cenote is also an open water cenote, an interesting experience and...

    Your biggest "lessons learned"

Yep, exactly, which is why I said overexertion AND trying to conserve air. The exertion was ramping up my metabolism, burning more oxygen and thus creating more CO2, necessitating an increase in breathing rate to get rid of it. But since I was running out of air, I did the exact opposite, which...

Hammerhead and Manta Ray Dive Sites in SE Asia (any suggestions where to go)

Yes, I would definitely recommend a Lembongan based op as well. But if you want to go on an early morning dive with them, prepare to spend the previous night on Lembongan. I think the first speed boats for Lembongan leave at 7:30-8:00, occasionally later, and they are often late (mine was late...

    Your biggest "lessons learned"

My story may not be all spectacular and dramatic, but it was an eye-opening experience for me. We were doing some wreck diving in Egypt. It was a liveaboard trip with constant diving and even though we used nitrox on all the shallower dives we were pretty much balancing on the edge of no deco...

Hammerhead and Manta Ray Dive Sites in SE Asia (any suggestions where to go)

I checked at least 5 ops and they all offered almost daily trips to Crystal Bay + Manta Point. In fact many of them did not seem to arrange dives to any other sites than those two. I got to dive Manta Bay only by special request and by luck that there were some others interested in the site. I...
