Why you should, or should not, service your own regulator

Tom, Anything is possible. John told me, directly, that he was still a dealer and still doing tech for them, just finding it hard to get parts in recent years. While he certainly could lie to me, not sure of the benefit. We have had a direct relationship for almost 15 years and I have spent...

Petrel owners: what mode do you use for a recreational NDL sport dive?

I use VPM as well as Buhtmann. Sadly, Rec mode only will run Buhlmann so I run Tec mode.

Why you should, or should not, service your own regulator

Tom, John must just not like you ( ;-) )!! I just ordered a couple of seats today!! He is still fully authorized Poseidon, although admits to having challenges getting parts from time to time. Only thing I have seen tougher to get parts for are Sitek regulators. According to Poseidon, they...

    Instructors

Whoever signs the cards should hold the folder. This is because the signee is the one most likely to be named in a legal case. The exception, of course, would be if you are acting as an agent for a shop, in which case you should both carry copies. Most compliance recommendations today are...

    HOG First Stage Regulator question

Wow, this discussion will now be clearly deemed worthless by the general population! 20 minutes of conversation better spent elsewhere!

    HOG First Stage Regulator question

You're comparing combos while talking about first stages, thus the difference is only $50 at retail, I've gone through several of the cheapy inline connectors and stopped using them years ago. Hate it when an inline falls apart in your hands, especially when on rebreather. A trustworthy switch...

    Scubapro regulators under Ice

Larry, Don't leave out the Mark 18. While no longer available in the US, it is still an active first stage outside of the US, and a dynamite rig.

POLL: What was your first dive computer and would you buy it again?

I think Marci and I were both diving the NiTek plus at the same time. Made for DiveRite by Seiko, it was a great little computer and very forgiving. I'd buy again in a minute for my kids or some one starting out. Number two was the Vr3HD, which I selected over the X1. My eyesight became a...

    HOG First Stage Regulator question

It is a concern of Hog, thus the recommendation . Not sure how an inline shut off would help. Even if the second stage didn't trigger, depressurization would occur. Either way, I'm just passing along the info, use it how you see fit.

    HOG First Stage Regulator question

The D1 does not use a captured O-ring on the turret. This mean that, with the valve closed, a normal situation for a stage or deco bottle, the first stage could de-pressurize, which could lead to the first stage flooding. This is not a fault of the Hogs, just a potential design issue found in a...

    Comparison between top brands?

UWLD (Bobby) runs comparisons from time to time but the thing he does better than anyone else is support his lights and their owners. Call him and talk to him for 10 minutes (He will, in all likelihood, answer himself), then call anyone else and see what the feeling is when you hang up. Bobby...

UW Light Dude Cap Installation & Removal Video

"I like the fact that Bobby is stacking the caps now and can run multiple light heads off one battery. I spoke to him about this a couple years ago. Good to see he pulled it off. Unfortunately, I have 4 UWLD lights with the old buckle mounts. Now I want these new battery cans" That's what...

Booster considerations- Can A nitrox booster be safe for O2???

First off, should have typed that it was a Nitrogen Booster, then cleaned for O2 use. I was able to pick up a 5G-TS-30/75 several years ago and have used it without issue. Last month, it finally tired an needed a full rework and I decided to have it done as a factory rework. Again, no issue...
