Thoughts on this set-up GX8-7-14 lens, Nauticam and lights

Thanks everyone. Based on suggestions and a little more research it looks like the Panny 14-24 PZ, port and WWL port is the way to go. Ordered this morning.

Big Island Operator - Can't Remember name

Thanks for the update. We've been watching the dengue updates and not overly concerned but general precautions will be observed. Bummer about the closure thanks also for beta on nudis. I'm definitely on the hunt this year as I put together a new camera rig that I'm really excited to use.

    TiZIP

FWIW I bought a used Bare HDC with the Tzip. I put about 50 more dives on it, not sure how many the previous owner had but suit was about 2 year old, and the zipper started to leak. My shop sent it into Bare for replacement and Bare said we'll replace it under warranty! What!!. So I'm not...

Thoughts on this set-up GX8-7-14 lens, Nauticam and lights

Why would you opt for the 14-42 rather than the 7-14? I have both lenses (but would have to buy the port), but was hoping to do some CFWA shots. Besides the nightime pelagic, most dives are planned to include some lava tubes and sea life. (at least in Hawaii in a few weeks) Not much difference...

Thoughts on this set-up GX8-7-14 lens, Nauticam and lights

I've read through the extensive discusion regarding the 7-14 lens (Panny) and Nauticam but I would love to hear thoughts, suggestions, limitations, etc regarding my proposed set-up - Panasonic GX8 - Panny 7-14 lens - Nauticam housing with dome port - 2 Big Blue VLT 2800 lights on arms Ok, that...

Imitation GoPro Cameras from China. Any Good?

Does it really shoot true 60fps, or do they just double the frames as most of the other cheaper ones do. I looked quickly and could not find out.The SJCAM says 60 FPS but then state that it is not true 60 FPS, just double frames

Definitely looks like a good option. I'll cross my fingers for good weather in December.

Looking to upgrade to a mirrorless camera - any advice?

I've not used it, but the Olympus TG4 with housing might meet your needs. Seems to get pretty good reviews and it shoots RAW for PP. tg-4 housing | B&H Photo Video

GoPro Macro Video with a Macromate Mini and 10+ on the flip system

Thanks for the hints. I've got a Hero3+ and a BigBlue VTL 2800. It has a wide 120 angle and three levels. I think I just need to practice with it more.

GoPro Macro Video with a Macromate Mini and 10+ on the flip system

Really nice. If you have posted the answer before, just point me to it. But, what setting on the GoPro (besides the Macro) and what lights and Lumens are you using? How many lights and what beam angle? Whenever, I do night dive I'm always blowing out the exposure. I just assumed the GoPro...

Big Island Operator - Can't Remember name

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I forgot to mention that I dove a bunch last year in the area around Kona proper. All the usual sites offered by the boat operators out of the harbor. While I did enjoy them, I wanted to experience something different this year. hence the reason I was...

Big Island Operator - Can't Remember name

A couple reasons i guess. 1) My wife and other son don't dive so I want them to have the car and enjoy the day any way they want 2) While my son and I are pretty good divers, safe and accomplished with navigation, I always prefer to have someone familiar with a dive site show me around before I...

Big Island Operator - Can't Remember name

Just in case anyone refers to this thread at a later date. I got hold of the person who made the recommendation last year and yep, they are out of business. I called all of the normal recommended operators about 3-tank longer range dives over the holidays. I went in knowing crowds and swells...

Big Island Operator - Can't Remember name

Last year a local recommended a smaller dive operator. They run further out and 4-6 people, 3 tank dives, and maybe operate south of Kona. Might even be a large rubber boat. When I returned home, I looked them up and thought "I'll have to remember them next fall". Well, no such luck. I...

    2 Canister lights 100lm and 3000lm (Andrewy's lights) ($350)

They are just shy of a year old. I got them in November of 2014. I could split them. I'm thinking $150 for the 1000lm and 200 for the 3000lm. ---------- Post added September 9th, 2015 at 12:40 PM ---------- The 3000lm light has been sold. The 1000lm light is still avail. Thanks

Passion _ Oh Yeah it's back!!

Today was one of the best dives I've had in almost 9 months. I am still giddy. Last dive was over 4 months ago and just nothing went right. My dive buddy is my son (15 years old) and we have only been diving for about 2 years. Last dive visibility was horrible, he got vertigo and I lost my...
