I have one and use it quite regularly. Have tried a longer telescoping pole from another brand but found that I like the stability of the non-telescoping much better so went back to the shorter UK one.
I've ruined 2 dive lights while leaving batteries in for several months, generally 2 or more. In spite of that, I still leave them in for several weeks but remove them as a month approaches.
I would also recommend the Fla Keys if depth is a concern. The majority of the sites are relatively shallow. The Turks and Caicos are fantastic for diving, however you can get deep fairly quick as many of the better sites are wall dives.
I read that Peter Benchley stated he would have never written the book if he would have known that damage that it would do to the reputation of sharks. He later became a conservationist.
I dive with contacts and have never had a problem. However, I do use a mask that has the reading glass inserts on the bottom so that I see things that are close-like my gauge!
Check out Lakeland Divers in East Hanover NJ. They hold monthly get togethers to highlight dive trips, wrecks, etc. In addition, they run a "new diver day" several times a year on the Sea Lion out of Brielle, which is a great introduction to NE Wreck diving.
I purchased the Sealife Aquapod yesterday at Beneath the Sea for $69. I like that it extends to 53 inches. It comes with both a regular camera tri mount and a GoPro mount. Have not used it yet-but appears that it will work well.
I believe that it is 170 degrees as the wide default. It can be changed to 2 more narrow view when you change the resolution to 1080 but the manual doesnt say what degree the narrower views are.
With the Hero2 and I assume the 3, you can change the field of view in the menu settings (FOV). The default is wide but it can be set to medium and narrow which give less of a fisheye effect.
I use the go pro for diving, surfing and skiing and have noticed water-spots occasionally on the lens-other than when completely submerged. The Go pro owners manual suggests to use Rain X to remove them. Anyone try this? Results? Thanks
Wreck Diver Magazine is the only one that I read cover to cover.
