Yep, me too. I don't like going under 30 meters with air. Especially in cold water, getting narced easily. My body seems to react differently in warm water. Red Sea no much issues going to 40 meters.
Rebreather O2 tank has probably (you know for sure) never had any other gas than 100% clean O2. Therefore I don't see any need for O2 cleaning.
It is wise to clean stages with 50% mix, diluent tanks used for blending, etc. however.
New CCR diver and I love my unit way more than OC. I dumped my double 12 due to back issues. I will still dive my sidemount set and single tank backmount when they are the better/more convenient tool. CCR is a very different beast, but a lot of fun. More than I anticipated before training.
Do we know about the experience level of any of the divers? Do we know if the instructor was doing a fun dive in stead of teaching?
Maybe I missed something, but otherwise these are just assumptions. Please educate me if I missed some info.
I understand, I dive from a boat with a lift wehen diving locally. Did some diving in the red sea with single tank alu80. That's about as much as I want to lift onboard. My rebreather is actually less heavy with ali40 bailout.
Shore diving is no issue.
Yeah, but you lift all that weight while walking to the water? Mine is 38 kg's max with lead and cannister. I take the scooter and stage first to the water side/boat platform, then put on the ccr and walk with that. Easy enough after having hauled a D12 for years.
Btw, imo diving a ccr is not...
Ask yourself: how long will your air last while three divers in stress (double the SAC, maybe triple it) are breathing form one tank? Then ask yourself: would two backups provide any advantage?
Maybe a wing/bp is meant for these divers and not for other diving in the first place? I must admit, it took me a while to get used to left hand dump, but it's not an issue anymore. I even experience benefits because my counterlung dump with my ccr is on my right. It would be very confusing to...
Only a problem if the Helium is contaminated. You can boost normal air from a clean diving compressor if you want to without problems. Just make sure it's clean.
Personally I hate it. Installed it and ripped it out of my suit again. It's very personal if you like it or not. Not saying it's bad, but it just won't work for me.
Personal preference maybe? The question is: why do they think they are doing things right and the other is wrong for doing things different? I don't know the answer.
It's just a matter of view. In the end you decide how you want to dive. Everyone is entitled to their opion, but that's not the same as the only truth. For instance, if you buy a rebreather to do max. 10 meter dives, it's your decision. Others might have an opinion on that though
For me...
Sidemount is a lot of hassle on land and on a boat compared to OC backmounted. In water it's my prefered OC setup by far. SM dives way easier and more stable than backmount and no more pesky valve drills :)
When you're planning the next step aka tech diving, think about rebreathers. No need to...
To my knowledge Suunto won't show two transmitters. Big disappointment for a friend of mine. It may have changed with new firmware, but I don't believe it has.
