Question Too early to consider tec?

Agree. I had a complete mind shift about certification when I started my tech journey. I was very proud of my rec certifications and they are great to have, but they don't mean much when really going into tech. With tech it's not the certification that counts, but mastering the needed skills at...

    Question Fx-ccr and Shark ccr

The FX-CCR is so new there are hardly any divers around that have used it.

    JJ CCR Questions

My take on your questions: I use my old and trsuty no name backplate wihout issues. I guess you can use the xDepp backplate as well (don't really know anything about them). Get the head protector. Otherwise, just sorb ans you'll be fine. Personally, I replaced the HUD with a Shearwater Nerd...

    QC6 hard to connect

Same here. My solution is to open the valve after connecting the QC6. Can't connect with thick gloves in the water.

    GUE JJ configuration

In my case it's right beside me. One grab is all I need to provide air. Personally I don't think there's much benefit having it tucked away under the loop.

Metalsub quick release system for doubles?

No, that's not required. However, if you V-weights behind you backplate it can be usefull to take them apart. Less weight is always a good thing for me. I only use bolts, no washer etc. So there's only two bolts to release before the plate comes of.

Metalsub quick release system for doubles?

Why would you want to use an quick release for doubles? I attach the backplate with two bolts/nuts (single an ddouble) and never felt the need for a quick release. So, I'am curious what you would like to achieve with this?

DIR- GUE GUE blessing new CCR model in next 2 years?

Yeah, but then it's not GUE diving anymore  In my opinion the JJ fits the GUE view on diving perfectly. It's robust and can be standardized. GUE CCR diving perspective is more than just about the unit used. It's the whole planning, unified equipment, etc. that's important to them. The unit...

    DIR- Generic SPG dir requirements

True, but when you plan a team dive it's best to follow the plan and not your personal computer. Different brands of computers can spit out very different deco schedules. Having said that, I do use my computer a an aid during deco. Always nice to have more information.

    DIR- Generic SPG dir requirements

Plan your dive, dive your plan. It does'nt matter what the computer says, the team is diving the plan or we're not going to dive anyway. A problem with Suunto computers is that they like to decide for you what's the best deco strategy. This may be different than your team plan, with the risk of...

    Trimix Deep Dive Prerequisite

Going to rebreather meant a steep learning curve for me. I suppose that goes for almost everyone. Having Fundies experience is always good. For now I would suggest to become a very competent diver feeling very very at ease under water. You will appreciate that experience once going for a...

    Trimix Deep Dive Prerequisite

Maybe it's better to hold off the decision to go for the GUE JJ config until you gain some more experience. There are not many benefits with the GUE config unless you dive in a GUE mixed team regularly. With experience will come knowledge that will guide you to the right descision for you...

    Trimix Deep Dive Prerequisite

Fundies is all about building good skills. Good skills are never waisted. After my Fundies I knew what to work on and every dive since I have worked on those skills. It is also a prerequisite for further GUE training. But that's only important if you want to proceed with GUE (which I did not).

I know, I was replying to the previous poster.

    GUE JJ configuration

Yep, exchanging stages while staying neutral. No kneeling on the bottom. Great skill to practice in a group of divers because every stage is different. Mee too, would love to see how the diver in the video would cope with drysuit while maintaining neutral buoyancy. This is way too easy.

DIR- GUE Progression of classes - Tech / Cave

You pointed out imo a possible issue with the GUE way of donating by a CCR diver correctly. That's one of the reasons I'am not so fond of the GUE CCR config. What I do in a mixed team is that I carry my own bailout. On rec dives I have no issue with sharing my bailout with my buddy. In tec...

DIR- GUE Tec1 with CCR in the making?

Exactly, that's what I tell everyone. Don't to dive a rebreather because it's fun. It ain't, honestly I love to dive OC way more than my rebreather. It takes a lot of money, time and dedication to dive them next to added risk. My advice is to only think about a rebreather if it's the right tool...

DIR- GUE Tec1 with CCR in the making?

Honestly, learning rebreather diving means quite a task load in itself. Doing it the GUE style would even mean more task load if not very skilled with doubles and stages and GUE procedures. I would not reccomend it to anyone.

I do. When I transfer the light to my right hand I use the thumb loop. Very convenient.

    Rolock 90

They started leaking. Replacing O-rings did'nt help, they kept on leaking. Besides that, removing them after the dive was a pain in the a$$ after a while. Almost needed a crowbar to get them off. The Rolocks do a better job for me.
