A week of diving without a liveaboard?

North Solitary Islands, out of Mullowy, just North of Coffs Harbour, is well worth a try https://divequest.com.au/

    Diving the great barrier reef

Petrol has been as low as $1.74 a litre last week but jumped to $2.14 a litre yesterday at most service stations. I would suggest trying to dive mid week to help get a parking spot close to the pier. Portsea Pier especially can be a really busy spot On weekends, even in October Portsea...

    Diving the great barrier reef

Shore diving in Melbourne raises a few questions 1, Where in Melbourne are you staying? Melbourne is wrapped around a horse shoe shaped bay, 2 hours driving from the SW side to the SE side of the urban sprawl is not unusual. Most of the cleaner water is further away. 2. How are you...

Cost of dives in Fiji and advice – is it really worth it?

traps for young players are Fiji VAT, when we were quoted for a trip in 2022 the Fiji Gov had lowered VAT due to COVID, but raised it by the time we paid our bill at the end of the trip. That hurt. Generally prices are quoted ex VAT. The other gotcha is credit card surcharges, if paying by CC...

    Diving the great barrier reef

I agree with Dan about doing a Mike Ball liveaboard. My only experience with day trips to the reef was out of Airlie Beach and it was underwhelming, the boat was catering for try divers. Cyclone season here is officially November to April so you may want to get here a bit earlier in 2024

    Fast Diver Craft

Thanks for trolling back through 3 1/2 months, this sort of makes sense, it would have been easier if the Op had included links in the original post in this thread

    Fast Diver Craft

Sorry to hear you are offended, but based on the lack of details about model number or manufacturer, or that you have built a great dpv, I don't ’tthink you can expect many positive comments. If I wasn’t such a trusting person, I would think the post has ulterior motives, rather than just...

    Vessel Indo Siren Fire?

None that I know of, but I always thought reading the fine print was something most reasonable people did, or maybe I am just excessively anal retentive

    Vessel Indo Siren Fire?

I am not sure what is more of a worry. The fact there are people out there that are dumb enough not be able to work out how much free Nitrox and beer saves on a trip, or the fact that the standard for dive courses is that low that they passed the theory

    Conception trial begins

Nolatom clearly says “We convicted him, not much question, but then we had to deliberate the penalty--death, or life?”, the hung jury was in the punishment phase, life or death penalty

    Suunto Companion batterychange

i Have a Suunto solution, a physically similar model, I have noticed over the years the contacts get harder and harder to activate by touch, have you tried sealing it up and putting it in salty water, so all contacts are activated, nothing to lose. On another note how old is it, 1980’s or 90’s?

Mike Ball Coral Sea Trip Report - October 2023

I agree with what MB NZ said, we did a trip last January and couldn’t get out to the Coral Sea due to the weather, and they did try hard to,get out there. I personally think the Coral Sea sites are better then the GBR Glad you enjoyed your trip

    Diver death on Alonissos Greece

The Wikipedia edits for the link @bradmond posted goes back to 2017 and was a translation from German wiki post going back to 2014, I am guessing it is a European term for open water diver or equivalert.

2.4 GHz WLAN interferes with pressure transmitter

I I think the RF geeks refer to those multiples as harmonics. Back in the bad old days in Oz you used to have to have a license to have a T.V. set. Detector vans were used to detect tv in houses. A tech once explained to me (and I am going off memory from a long time ago) that tv gave off an...
