I use an AQA "Bubo" mask with black silicone skirt, and black Esclapez fins. The fin blades are the perfect stiffness; I don't think I'd like the green fins as much.
People with differently shaped faces/feet will disagree, though. I just went with this equipment because it fits me really...
After disassembling the thing this afternoon and fastidiously comparing it to other USD reg models, it seems as though my 20 2nd stage is identical to the Conshelf 21. So servicing it will be easy :)
I know what you mean about brass regs - I typically dive a metal Poseidon and plastic regs...
Never tried any of the local dive outfits personally, but one of my friends really likes Captain Bruce. (I'm a poor college student and can't afford boat dives). There's also an outfit out of Hawaii Kai named "Captain Joe" that's very cost-effective if you have your own gear.
Are you sure...
I tried to order an overhaul kit for my spare regulator (an old Conshelf 20) yesterday. But apparently (according to the Aqualung sales rep) parts are available for the 1st stage, but not the 2nd, and I should "get a new reg because it can't be fixed".
So... Is this really true? Should I...
Of course the downside of not looking up is that you might bump into something on the way!
Because of this, I've poked myself in the head at least twice with my 3-prong (clipped to my float) and once I headbutted a turtle. But at least it wasn't a motor skeg or something like that :)
Hello all,
I've got two Poseidon Cyklon 300 regs with the old G 1/8 threads on the first stage. Would anybody know where to get the hose adaptors for standard 3/8 fittings? I'd like to rearrange the hoses, and although I do have some of the adaptors I still need a couple more (and it'd be...
I often free dive alone - not because I can't find anybody to go with me, but because I want to. I know it's potentially risky, but experiencing the ocean without the distraction of others is something I love too much to give up. Is this stupid? That depends on your point of view - personally...
Vinegar is bad - the acid dissolves calcium carbonate and destroys the shell's finish. Alkaline solutions such as bleach are better, but still don't overdo it - you will damage them if they soak too long.
Putting them in the sun is also a bad idea, unless you want the shells to become white...
Yup, it's a Cyklon 300. I use one myself - great reg although it can be a big pain in the butt (and the wallet) to service. If it was free, it's definitely worth the expense of maintaining it.
