    Stuff hanging down.

At Cayman Brac, where these photos were shot, and Little Cayman, there are a number of "friendly" Nassau Groupers who actually approach divers. Petting of these Groupers (and no other marine animals) is actually encouraged by the DM's. Some of these groupers are quite old and have been "petted"...

    Aqualung Core

Anyone who has gotten an interior look at the new Aqualung Core second stage: I assume that the Core second stage is a cosmetic revamp of the Titan LX ACD second, but I am curious about the new "patented heat exchanger" that AL advertises. The first stage appears to be unchanged.

Little Cayman in mid-Feb LCBR how are the bugs?

Large, Flying insects are generally not a problem during daytime. They can be a problem early morning and evening if there is no wind. On calm evenings, the LCBR bar is usually surrounded by "insect repellant torches" which are of limited help. They also have repellant sprays on the bar for...

    Help ID this reg

Not a great photo of the second stage, but it appears to be an early 1990's Maximus. (Affectionately called the "Darth Vader Model") If so, there is a breathing adjustment on the hose side of the second stage, and a long under arm length hose. The first stage is one of the last group with the...

Suunto Vyper or Oceanic Geo 2

In this case, Aeris and Oceanic were divisions of the same company with many of the same items wearing different badges. Dacor and Mares were different companies.

What yokes from other brands will fit the Sherwood SR1 1st stage?

There's no way you could have held it. It decided that suicide was the way to stop hearing all of the negative comments. RIP.

    Regulator failure - theories?

LeadTurn, While I agree with your analysis in general, I think you can eliminate "failure of the ACD". The ACD does not operate off of air pressure as does Oceanic's DVT. It is held open mechanically by the pressure of its attachment to the valve. However, the DVT could be held partially open...

Can I buy 2nd stage and rent 1st?

I know of a number of people who have put their only regs in checked baggage on multiple trips without a damage or theft problem. I carry one complete reg set in carryon and another complete set (first stage, 2 seconds, spg, inflator hose) in a checked bag. In well over 75 trips, all with...

    Lcbr 11/15-22

carriemack, Speak to Errol as soon as you arrive. He's a good guy, and I am sure he will take care of your special dietary needs. I knew Anthony since the day he arrived at LCBR, and like him a lot. He was the most outgoing executive chef who has ever been there. But, stuff happens, and we...

Too windy to dive the wall?

wildbill, I have learned not to put much stock in long range forecasts. But, even if the forecast is correct, wind direction is far more important than speed. Speed of 25 knots or more from the north or northeast are not unusual in winter and will probably prevent them from diving the north...

duty free.....pricing and choices in grand cayman

The duty frees at GC airport will not sell you liquor if you are going to the Sister islands. Usually, they will ask to see your boarding pass. I'm not saying that transport from airport duty free to the Sisters can't be done, but IMO it is hardly worth the effort.

    Lcbr 11/15-22

Anthony is now at Pirates Point, so it was not a visa issue. The wraps served at Monday lunches were IMO a bit spicy, but still very good. In general, I like the current food better than before.

    Question about ATX 50

It is not unusual for the exhaust diaphragm to stick if used in salt water. Usually, a HARD exhale will free it. If not, you can access it by opening the small trap door on the rear of the stage. There is a small catch inside on the right side (positioned as you would use it). There should be no...
