    New Second Stage Seat

Has the second stage seat been changed, and, if so, can it be used in the previous Zeagle seconds?

Acquired used Oceanic CDX5 / GT3 (plus Omega II) with DVT, any opinions ?

Bob, Early on, I read that 15psi is necessary to open the DVT, so I doubt that low air pressure would be a problem. Of course, that is for a clean and not salt blocked DVT. Also early on, there were several redesigns of the ball shape, since they were quite noisy in use. I recall diving in the...

Old Gear? Worth trying to service?

It is unlikely that Daven's Brut is one of the new style ones. It is probably one of the old barrel first stage Brutes of which thousands are in use in rental. Not the best breather, but it is about as simple as a brick, and most internal parts are readily available.

Acquired used Oceanic CDX5 / GT3 (plus Omega II) with DVT, any opinions ?

Do not confuse AL and Oceanic's versions of a first stage closure device. The only similarity is that they both use a spring for closure. The AL version (ACD) is held open mechanically by the first stage's connection to the tank valve. It is held open until the first stage is removed from the...

Proposed interactive shark diving in the Caymans

We had something similar happen at one of the blue holes at Cay Sal. Shut down the engines--sharks are waiting. That area is pretty far from any inhabited island, and there are no mooring balls there. These sharks were not as pushy as those at New Providence, but they did stay close to us. We...

Proposed interactive shark diving in the Caymans

drrich, On one of our annual trips to the Bahamas, we decided to do a few dives at the public mooring balls off New Providence. As it happens, we tied up on one of the balls where Stuart Coves does their shark dives. When we submerged, we were immediately surrounded by about a dozen Reef sharks...

Strip Paint from Aluminum Tank ??

Aircraft aluminum stripper. Spray it on, hose it off. But you need to remove most types of stickers first.

    I have beat the odds

Ahhh, but which regulator did you use. You might be seriously close to the edge.

Reef Divers the new operator at Cobalt Coast

Thanks KathyV. I don't usually have trouble, but for some reason I could not open that link.

Reef Divers the new operator at Cobalt Coast

The link does not seem to work. But that's what you get for abandoning a perfectly good LCBR dining room thread.

    Cobalt Coast Resort

Hardly a dark secret. The dining room is opened 30 minutes early for those on a night dive. However, the bell is not rung until the regular opening time. Aggie, Kimberly, the current resort manager, has been in that position for a few years now, and Jason, the previous manager, is now one step...

    Americans targeted at Owens Airport?

The idea that Cayman is targeting US tourists is absolute nonsense. The rules are equally strict for tourists from ANY country. What concerns me is that the bullet passed undetected through TSA in the US in luggage on route to the Caymans. Anyone foolish (read "stupid') enough to have a live...

    Cobalt Coast Resort

Aggie, Management recognized that the dining room was too small very early on and have been "making plans to expand" it for many years. A number of ideas for a possible expansion have been proposed and all would be difficult and expensive. It will be interesting to see if an expansion actually...

Dive Rite , Scuba Pro , Zeagle Regulator

I wonder if that is going to change since Atomic's parent company now owns Zeagle.

Regulator service lubricant choice, Christo-Lube vs silicone lube

I, too, have too many regs, which I do not service until there is (or seems to be) a problem. I use only silicone grease, although I did try a sample of Tribolube at one point. I do not use high percentages of O2. I have, however, been using EAN since it was called NOAA I and NOAA II (32% and...

    Zeagle regs

Leisurepro has the Zeagle Zeagles on closeout, but all of the Atomic Zeagles are showing out of stock. They usually receive new gear pretty early in the cycle.

Where to Stay on Little Cayman?

I don't think that it was Reef Divers (LCBR) who was uptight, but primarily a few of the divemasters. One, whom I called "the Dragon Lady", was such a PITA that we were close to open warfare--the only time that this has happened. Fortunately she left about 6 years ago. There was another, who...

Aqualung Calypso, Sherwood Brut or Cressi XS2/AC2

Of the choices given, I would definitely choose the Calypso. The very similar Scubapro Mark 2 would also be a fine.
