Travel Friendly BCD (but not a "Travel BCD")

I kinda like my Cressi Air Travel for tropical stuff. Very light, packs up small, even has a small rollup pocket that i seldom use but is nice to have. With this bc I pack my dive rig complete with regs 2 computers, smb, 2 lights, 2 masks, 3 mil full suit, but minus fins, in a normal sized...

Clips, Retractors, etc. for staying Streamlined

The simplest way, (and in many instances the hardest with single strap harness) is to thread the web thru the inner tube

What do you use to stop your mask from fogging?

How about the abusive dad on Bering Sea Gold who defogged his son's mask with dish soap. What an a'hole! Though it would work pretty well....:maniac:

    Scuba Junkie, Don't join it

And of course it's all those bad instructors' fault that these terrible things happen to us. God forbid we take responsibility for our actions. :banghead:

    Scuba Junkie, Don't join it

Sorry, no sympathy from me. I apologize for sounding harsh, but I don't think you're ready for the responsibilities required of a basic level scuba diver. You alone are responsible for your actions. I certainly would never dive with you.

Never to old for Scuba ! ! !

I think there are quite a few of us septuagenarians still diving. The problem is that none of my aged friends dives, so I went and got my solo cert. Haven't needed it so far.

Is there a "Rate My Instructor" or "Rate My Dive Shop" site?

The site looks good, but it looks like it will take some time to build up the numbers of pros. I searched a coupe of pretty well known instructors and found nada

Warm, light, flexible drysuit for old guy

I'm a septuagenarian w\ both hips replaced and some shoulder issues. Decidedly less flexible than I used to be, even with yoga twice a week. YMMV. The Fusion was a little more flexible than the Bare, but I couldn't reach the exhaust with more than a couple of fingers. I also wasn't happy with...

Warm, light, flexible drysuit for old guy

I'm happy w/ my Bare XCD2 compressed neo. Very flexible, fits well. Very easy to don/doff I love the attached boots on the bare. Slide in, slide out. No issues with extra air in the feet. I use Thermalfusion undies and nice thick Alpaca socks that a rellie brought back from Peru. I dive...

Pros and Cons of Working in a Shop Vs. Independent Instructor

FWIW the LDS here doesn't pay his instructors. They get a discount on gear and trips.

What do you do over the winter?

Storker, Nothing like winter viz :) And as a bonus we can go night diving already at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Where are you that it gets dark that early? I'm in the deep south of the frozen north, so it doesn't get dark til 5. Out diving in Ohio tomorrow.

Blowing Tank Air on a Regulator

Yeah, I think we should throw those clowns who blow air on their dust caps for a few seconds overboard! How inconsiderate! :rofl3:

Do you wear a dive watch?

I got my Citizen Aqualand about 10 years ago and used it as a backup computer for a while. (records 4 dives, max/avg depth, temps, times). Certainly not particularly expensive at about $200 when I bought it, but I see the prices have gone nuts since then. It's my day to day watch now and came...

Backup Mask - Ever Had to Use While Solo?

The only time I would really want to carry the spare mask is in the ocean where the water stings the crap out of my eyes. In fresh water where I do most of my diving my only issue without a mask is the reading my gauges. Also in my usual dive sites, the vis is so poor, the mask is only good...

    Opinions on potential BP/W setup

Did you ever consider using a jacket style BCD? They've been used successfully for many years by all sorts of divers. Many styles and sizes are available to suit any taste. :stirpot: :rofl3: (I just thought that since the BP/ wing guys hijack so many threads, I'd stick my oar...

How did you know you were narked?

I wasn't even sure if I was narced. Drifting along at 100' after coming out of the dragons throat, I wondered why I felt so comfortable. I remember thinking, "Shouldn't I feel at least a little stressed?" I checked my gauges, my buddy, my gear and all was sop, so I went on enjoying the dive.
