    Any Deadhead Divers here?

Here's a few quotes from Garcia on diving. These come from Garcia: An American Life by Blair Jackson ***************** " It takes up some of the space that drugs left, insofar as it's like going to a different world" "You're in a different place. It's very sensual. There's lots of...

Any tips on diving after weight loss surgery

I had the same procedure (also lap) in October of 2002. My surgeon is also a diver as well. I discussed this extensively with him and contacted DAN in addition to get their take on diving and WLS overall. DAN said there were no contradictions, and my surgeon cleared me for diving a few...

Have you ever thought about taking a cruise?

Cruises just never appealed to me. I know lots of people who take them and I love being on ships. I just prefer to be able to spend more time exploring the places they visit, getting to know the people there and their culture.

    Any Deadhead Divers here?

That was a great show. If anyone wants a copy let me know and I'll get you a cd. When you walk into Jacks in Kona there is a nice picture of Jerry on the right hand side wall. He loved diving. I asked a few of the instructors there how Jerry's diving was. They said for someone so...

    Any Deadhead Divers here?

Wasn't on any studio album. It's on Europe '72, What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been and Dick's Pick's, vol. 5 First performance: August 23, 1971 at the Auditorium Theater, Chicago. It appeared in the first set, between "Beat It On Down the Line" and "Me and My Uncle." It's was a regular...

    Bad practice?

I believe those prerequisites are being current on your PADI membership and liability insurance.

    Accepted!

Awesome! Congratulations on this good news. Bob

    Bad practice?

I'm in PADI divemaster training now. From what I understand PADI Divemasters can conduct Discover SCUBA, Discover Snorkeling and SCUBA tuneups but you must be current on your PADI membership AND your divemaster liability insurance.

    Baja/Sea of Cortez

La Paz is awesome for big animals, but generally not in November. Summertime is better. They get whale sharks and the viz is awesome. If you go in November you'll still probably be able to see hammerheads at El Bajo. At that time of the year their numbers can be lower. I saw six in...

    What should I do?

Thanks for taking action on this. We need to protect the underwater environment. Nice job and please let us know what happens. Bob

Are there any GLBT divers/groups/clubs out there?

I went on one of the Diving for Life trips to Bonaire two years (I think it was 2 years) ago. I had a blast! I was also not the only straight diver in the group. Plus, since it was a Diving For Life trip, part of the money I paid went to AIDS charities, a total bonus from my point of...

    Yoga?

Anyone here into yoga? How has it effected your diving? It would seem to be very complimentary. Bob

    Diving Monterey questions

Breakwater is also the place where tons of OW classes are held. When you get in the viz will be lousy as all the sand is kicked up by the classes. Kick out and it clears up. As a bonus for the new diver, due to all the classes there, on any weekend you'll find 10 instructors, 25...

What kind of sharks have you seen?

Grey Reef ( in Hawaii), Hammerhead (in La Paz, Mexico), Leopard ( in Monterey, CA) , Galapagos (in Hawaii).

Who still eats Shark Fin ?

Never had it, never will. As most of us know, sharks are in far greater danger from humans, than humans are from sharks. Bob

Are there any GLBT divers/groups/clubs out there?

There is a GLBT scuba club here in San Francisco that I belong to and I'm straight. They are friendly, passionate about diving and they dive often. There are several straight members. They meet close to my home so it was convenient for me, besides I want to dive with them, not sleep with...

    First underwater digital camera

If your just getting into photography now I'd start with digital. The amount of $ you'll spend on film processing will quickly add up and the shots you take probably aren't going to be very good as you'll be learning. Go digital, it'll save you $ in the long run. Bob

    Any Deadhead Divers here?

Lots of heads here! :) I've been musing on the thought of taking some tunes down with me on a dive. Now the natural underwater sounds are awesome in their own right, but I'm intrigued by the thought of some serious Jerry space underwater, perhaps on a night dive. Anyone ever use one...

    Roatan

So Sion and I just booked a trip with our dive club to Roatan for April of 2004. We'll be staying at the Inn of Last Resort. Can anyone share anything about the diving, viz, water temps, etc. Thanks! Bob
