    Unsure of what to do?

This is hard to believe and reflects *extreme* poor judgement on the part of the instructor and the LDS (assuming they know what the instructor was up to). Report the instructor and let the chips fall where they may.

How will the fires impact viz?

There were some fires in Monterey this weekend. Saturday you could taste the smoke in the water.

    Diving in india

I've always wanted to dive India. There are liveaboards out of Thailand but I think there is also an operator or two on the islands. Check out : http://www.andamanscubaclub.com/ On the oter side of India you'll find the Lakshadweep islands. This is one place I must visit some day...

    new Tatoo and Diving

You are supposed to keep your new tattoo dry for a few days. I'd wait a week. You should wrap it before you shower as well.

    AAUS Scientific Diving

Indeed. I'm aware of this. The reason I want to get the certification is to do scientific diving. It's just that I'm neither in school (I got my MA years ago) and I'm not a scientist. It does appear however that their is room for civilians to make contributions to the advancement of research...

    AAUS Scientific Diving

Is anyone here an AAUS Scientific Diver? I'm interested in talking to people who hold this cert. I'm been looking into pursuing this certification for sometime now. I'm told that there are numerous opportunities to assist academics (especially grad students) with research. The way it was...

    underwater death and suicide

I have also heard that it's a peaceful way to go. As for me, I want more time among the living, not less. When my time does come I want to be cremated and have some ashes scarrtered in Golden Gate Park, some scattered at sea and the rest thrown in the volcano on Hawaii.

    Bonaire

I stayed at Captain Don's a few years ago and had a wonderful time. I was with a group however and boat dives and food were included so I can't comment on the food costs. If I went again on my own I would opt to rent a truck and do mostly shore diving. They leave tanks out 24/7, so all you...

    Good Scuba-Themed Movies

Well it's not really a scuba theme, but I highly recommend the box set of Blue Planet (4 dvd's). It's awesome. Bob

Thanks Allen! This sounds like it will be right up my alley. I'm more interested in the science, than the dog and pony show. Bob

    Anthonys Key Resort Dolphins

Thanks for the tip regarding the snorkeling vs. the dive. Good advise. For the Trainer for a Day, I don't expect to teach a dolphin to fetch or anything. I'm more interested in the behind the scenes aspect of their diet, care and habitat, etc, so I may do it as well. Maybe on my last day...

    Whales

It's actually pretty cool. I did a blue water dive in Kona last March and was fortunate enough to have a whale cruise right by me. It's like swimming next to a bus. Bob
