Indeed. I'm aware of this. The reason I want to get the certification is to do scientific diving. It's just that I'm neither in school (I got my MA years ago) and I'm not a scientist. It does appear however that their is room for civilians to make contributions to the advancement of research...

I stayed at Captain Don's a few years ago and had a wonderful time. I was with a group however and boat dives and food were included so I can't comment on the food costs. If I went again on my own I would opt to rent a truck and do mostly shore diving. They leave tanks out 24/7, so all you...

Thanks for the tip regarding the snorkeling vs. the dive. Good advise. For the Trainer for a Day, I don't expect to teach a dolphin to fetch or anything. I'm more interested in the behind the scenes aspect of their diet, care and habitat, etc, so I may do it as well. Maybe on my last day...
