I don't think I've seen one of them test over 9ah yet.
Before I built bigger packs I was a fan of the dewalt 9ah, could get 4 of them for the price of 2 12ah and get in 2 dives a day
Name brand cells are $80+ for each battery. That doesn't cover any of the other materials, time or tools to make them
it's not for everyone, the group of people that could use 15ah vs 12ah that cant use the already produced 20ah packs is incredibly small
I haven't seen bismuth mentioned yet.
Rotometals.com use to have pre-made bismuth soft weights, I believe they can still make them.
Price was about 3x their lead counterparts, but its a one time cost, all of mine are over 4 years old and still look new...
Because 20 people with no control of their lights makes for a poor experience for everyone and the guides cant signal eachother.
After the first group of trails its usually ok to bring lighs.
The buttons won't work.
Hit record on the way down and just leave it running.
I've taken my stock housing to 300ft. I've also had the lens shatter at 170ft
I'm calling BS on the charge rate difference. 0.9a difference is not going to melt solder or overheat anything. If it was it would fail frequently from just the differences in charger outputs and inrush currents.
Saltwater messed it up, no questions asked.
They would be the same weight.
I wouldnt say it would be less than new, but would be similar in price.
There's been some decent sales on the 12ah packs this fall .
Floating the idea of "rebuilding" the dewalt 9/12ah packs to 15ah for use in the BT and Cuda X.
The main draw over the other 15ah/20ah batteries available now is that they would still use the factory dewalt housings and could pass TSA screenings for air travel with the red guard in place...
Might be worth calling dive shops that would just fill to 2400 without the + mark anyway.
Or find someone with a compressor
Or just move to north FL where they'll fill them to 4k every time.
