    Am I progressing too fast?

That's very reassuring to hear. Just to reiterate.... By my estimation I am definitely nowhere near ready for anything involving real overhead, hard or soft. For now I'm only wondering if my experience level is enough to learn drysuit and take fundies!

    Am I progressing too fast?

I was referred to a video of the interview to check out as homework and it'll be a while before I have the chance to talk to them again so unfortunately I don't know. They've never seen me dive, so it wouldn't be based on that; in fact I've turned them down before on an offer to take me to a...

    Am I progressing too fast?

I'm a relatively new open water diver interested in getting into technical diving. I see my first technical diving class as something a couple years away. At 30 dives with only an OW card, don't feel that I'm pulling a zero-to-hero or card collecting. At an average hard-bottom depth of 32ft...

Is there a valid reason for a pony bottle

I plan my dives so that two simultaneous major problems won't kill me. Major problems include loss of one breathing gas, entanglement, loss of buddy, and loss of buoyancy. 2x lost breathing gas and loss of breathing gas with loss of buddy both require a pony bottle if you have any reason not to...

    How do you dive?

I primarily use a bottom timer and responded as such, but I would like to note that I am not opposed to the use of computers; I just have my computer in gauge mode because I find the information layout of this particular computer more useful in gauge mode.

    No deco time proximity.

In my opinion, conservatism should be added with the algorithm. If I think I can't safely ascend with seconds left on the NDL clock at my current depth then I'll make the NDL clock run faster by adjusting the conservatism until I am comfortable with it. Therefore, the only buffer I apply to my...

Thinking of buying my first dry suit. Thoughts?

A laminate drysuit doesn't keep you warm. It simply allows you to use traditional cold weather insulation underwater. This makes laminate much more versatile in terms of temperature range, as it can be used with just a gym suit in warm water, all the way down to wicking layers, a heavy...

REVIEW: OrcaTorch 2700 lumens canister light D620 by Alec Peirce

Hearing that it's delayed another two months gives me hope that they're responding to complaints and going back to taking 8 individual 18650 cells, like the community wanted.

How to measure a guideline precisely?

I'm making a map of a local dive site, and I'd like it to be with more precision than I can reasonably get by counting kicks. I've got a primary reel with knots tied at regular intervals for measuring distance, but there isn't an abundance of available tie-offs. Most of the permanent guideline...

Do you log ‘gear test’ dives?

I'll stop logging dives when I become a perfect diver, and I'm not counting on that happening in one lifetime. Until then, my dive log will contain the basic information of the dive, the main thing(s) that went wrong, why, if/how I dealt with it during the dive, and if/how I can fix, prevent...

REVIEW: OrcaTorch 2700 lumens canister light D620 by Alec Peirce

Yeah, I really wanted to want this light but I'm just not sure it makes sense for me after these latest updates. I don't have that many dives, but at the price point of the D620 it still made sense for me to buy it and I could continue using it as I got into more advanced diving. But now I think...

    SC Divers?

I, too, am in Columbia, SC. I'm basically trying to dive Lake Murray every week if not more, and I've got a pretty flexible schedule. Feel free to message me any time. I currently don't have any buddies to dive with regularly.
