Wet Suit Slightly Small or Slightly Large

I didn’t read all the responses, so apologies if this has been covered, but keep in mind that regular Thermoprene isn’t as stretchy as Thermoprene Pro. I have a regular Thermoprene, a Pro, and a Thermaxx. The Pro and Maxx suits are the same size and fit the same, but the regular Thermoprene is a...

Unknown Man drowns snorkeling in Hawaii, wife sues Hawaii for not warning of danger of snorkeling

True. But just by filing suit means additional expenses for any defendant (the state of Hawaii in this case). If I know I’m not negligent then I don’t fear losing a lawsuit, but I sure as hell fear the expenses and aggravation associated with it.

Question New to scuba diving, is it a bad instructor?

Good grief. It’s 2024. Get with the times.

Question New to scuba diving, is it a bad instructor?

Depending on local laws, fondling or unwanted sexual touching can indeed be a criminal offense. Certainly in the US and Canada it is. Not sure about OP's situation because we don't know on what Caribbean island these incidents took place. His actions go well beyond "unprofessional."...

Question New to scuba diving, is it a bad instructor?

It would perhaps have served her well, but no, the responsibility to act properly rested with the instructor, ethically, likely legally (depending on local laws), and PADI-wise. https://pros-blog.padi.com/professional-conduct/

Question New to scuba diving, is it a bad instructor?

No one is saying the women are powerless. But in this case - as in most cases of such behavior - there was a power dynamic at play. This was exacerbated by the fact that it was part of scuba training, which means underwater, a place where humans are not meant to survive. I’m certain this...

Question New to scuba diving, is it a bad instructor?

Your sentiment may seem rational, but you need to educate yourself on the psychosocial complexities of sexual harassment and assault.

Question Help with watch strap for drysuit

Or, just buckle the second strap to the bottom portion of the existing strap. Weave the tail through the top rings. Now you have a much longer strap. It's what I used to do when I put a Zulu on my Teric. There was a company that made extra long Zulu straps for drysuits, but I forget the...

Question New to scuba diving, is it a bad instructor?

You're welcome. Please report back and let us know how the process goes for you. It's important to not only call out bad, inappropriate, and dangerous instructors and shops, but to make sure that training agencies are held accountable as well for how they follow up.

Question New to scuba diving, is it a bad instructor?

I’m sorry you experienced this. Please, please, please report this to PADI. None of this was okay, from the criminal sexual assault to the breaking of standards. This perv needs to have his teaching status revoked.

New Shearwater Dive Computer - 2024!

The Peregrine is a much larger format, so there is more space for a larger battery. For what it’s worth, my Teric is over 5.5 years old and I’ve never had it serviced. The battery doesn’t last as long as it used to, but I can still get a week’s worth of diving 4 dives per day and only have to...

New Shearwater Dive Computer - 2024!

I've never used a Perdix so I don't know how customizable the fields for it are. The Peregrine does have some customizable fields (position, and what data you want shown), but isn't as customizable as the Teric. Hopefully someone with a Perdix will chime in and let you know more.

New Shearwater Dive Computer - 2024!

Battery degradation hasn't been an issue at all for me. Of course, battery life in the new Tx model is going to be decreased over the non-AI one because of the increased power usage. But I'd still wager it will be excellent.

New Shearwater Dive Computer - 2024!

I have a Peregrine as my backup to my Teric and it gets much better battery life, with hardly any drain when it’s being stored and not used. Now, it’s younger than my Teric and doesn’t get used every dive (just on dive trips), but overall the battery is excellent.

ROPE - I have not heard of this snorkeling problem

Dry drowning is caused by the partially aspiration of water, which causes laryngospasm. Edema is when fluid from within the bosy fills the lungs.

ROPE - I have not heard of this snorkeling problem

Only suits that go to court can clog the court system. A great number of suits are filed simply to see if a settlement of some sort can be extracted. Not saying that is what is going on with this specific case, but it is a real issue. Also, when someone dies in the water and it cannot be easily...

    Bonaire dive report

I'm calling BS on your whole story. Everyone knows the reefs in Bonaire are completely dead. Or so we've recently been told. :p I'm just kidding, of course. I always love diving the pier. I'll be there again in a few months, and I can't wait!

ROPE - I have not heard of this snorkeling problem

I agree. Why is it that just about every time someone dies in the ocean (diving, swimming, or snorkeling) a lawsuit is the result? It's always someone else's fault, somehow. People need to learn to educate themselves and get whatever training they might think necessary. From a public health...
