    Andrea Doria Discussion

I don't personally have interest in diving the Doria as, for me, the risk reward ratio is just not there. To each his/her own, of course and that's not really my purpose in posting. I would say you're getting way, way ahead of yourself to even thinking about gear decisions at this point other...

    Mix and match agencies/certs?

What they said. Plus, I think you answered your own question. Go wherever you get the best and most appropriate training. You're already certified. At this point, the training is about expanding your skills and comfort, not getting a piece of plastic, let alone a piece of plastic from one...

    Why I love Atomic

The Zeagle F8 uses seat saver on the second stage and has a great diaphragm first stage.

    Gas expansion limit?

Naah. We've all had our share of Saturday morning brain farts.

    Gas expansion limit?

? Maybe not understanding your question. If you pull it back down, the volume will be halved and it will be half full again. You'll just be back where you started.

Oceanic OCi and transmitter O rings

Honestly, I've not had to replace the oring routinely. I have spares, but I just inspect them well and have never found any deterioration. Gently wipe down and run them through your fingers with a tiny amount of silicon - tiny. If no rough spots, I've been gtg. They are not under high pressure...

Anyone shooting with the Sony a6500

I have an A6500 in a nauticam housing. I use, primarily, a Zen DP-170 dome and the Sony 16mm pancake with the WA or Fisheye adapter. The vacuum system is the bomb and the Nauticam housing has a space for an auxiliary battery, which is key.

    Where to put octo BP&W

To expand on the above, bp/w is traditionally a tech setup, where you would have a long hose primary that you would donate. The secondary, which is for you, is on a necklace rig around your neck, just below your chin. As bp/w gets more common for recreational divers, that expectation may be...

Fins: Deep6 Eddy v OMS Slipstream

I agree with the above comments. I've had both and currently dive the Eddys. Very similar performance - maybe just a smidge more power from the Slipstreams, but not material in my view. I find the footpocket on the Eddy to be infinitely better, which is why I dive them now. I have narrow...

    Vertigo while narked

Glad you're fine. Have you considered causes other than narcosis? The fact that it sounds like your situation did not resolve, rapidly, just by ascending a bit, seems inconsistent with narcosis. Could this be an inner ear issue?

    Tank rack for boat

Does your rear seat post screw in? That's a nice strong point right in the middle of the deck to anchor a rack.

    Mares XR Backplate design flaw?

Well, scratch one theory. I'd be unhappy about it too. Try calling Dgx.

    Mares XR Backplate design flaw?

What wing? There's no real standard on spacing of the cam band slots. Unless you match brands or get lucky, it's often the case that slots on the plate don't match the wing. Only option is an STA or a different wing.

Gradient Factors - What is Everyone Using?

50/85 here, but I usually extend the last stop and watch SurfGF drop until I'm bored. Usually closer to 70 when I get out. So, 50/85 up to the last stop, then more like 70 to exit. The goal is to be efficient about getting to shallow stops, then extend from there to be more conservative as...

Would you choose a "Technical." Dive Computer for "Recreational." Diving.

I agree with most everything in your posts except the first sentence in the above quote. I think most recreational computers come, out of the box, with very aggressive profiles. I know my Oceanics are probably running the equivalent of a GFHi of 95 unless you affirmatively add conservatism. My...

    My New Toy

All fair. Knowing you (virtually, at least) I'm confident you could have gone the CCR route from the outset. But, my opinion is that you are an outlier (in a good way). You're a thoughtful and disciplined guy about everything diving related and you are probably 99th percentile in terms of...

    My New Toy

You CAN certainly go straight to CCR from recreational singles, but I've seen firsthand how most of them people struggle adding stage handling, OC gas planning, and gas switches to learning CCR skills. For many, bailing out remains scary when it should be simple and familiar. They also don't...

Feature request - 15 feet last stop

Literally the only reason OP wants a 15' option for "last stop" is that he wants his TTS to be more accurate. Otherwise set it for 10' and do your last stop wherever you want. The computer is automatically updating deco obligation based on your actual depth. IMHO, it isn't worth the hassle...
