A few years ago in January, we were boat diving through the Tacoma Narrows which is a fast drift dive. Upon surfacing, it was snowing and we joked that the water Temp was warmer than the air!
I also like NW Sports Divers - great shop!
I've seen this before and am quite suspicious as submitters give away ALL RIGHTS to their photos as stated in the contest rules.
The promoters end up having a huge portfolio to sell to clients.
The Yongala and Coral Sea is absolutely fantastic, but I was also told our trip had incredible weather, calm seas, and a superb crew/group. I shot 32 rolls of film and did every dive offered.

I pack my complete UW camera in a Pelican 1550 which is the max allowable carry on size. I then use a small SCUBAPro Reg bag to put my regs/computer in. These are the absolute essentials.
This lesson was learned the hard way on a Cathay flight where I never saw my bags until a month after I...
I've several friends who are photographers that rave about Walindi Resort and have returned many times:
Walindi Plantation Resort
BTW - Are you a member of The Marker Buoy Dive Club in Seattle?
This photo is definitely a composite as it violates Depth of Field rationale and lighting angles which should be the same on adjacent items.
While I don't believe the judge's comments about "digitizing caused these effects", I could understand that the judge(s) would have a very difficult...
I just got my photos back from Bali/Sulawesi trip and put them on NikonNet's webspace - free, but a bit slow laoding, sorry. All shots were made with a Nikonos RS camera and either a 50mm macro or 13mm wide angle lens using dual strobes SB-104/SB-105 on an Ultralite pivot tray/arms. Printed...
Tulamben got hit with an extra hard runoff from last fall's rainy season and although it is nice, I still prefer Paidang Bai East for Macro. There are quite a few subjects to shoot like large Mantis Shrimps, and Crocodile Fish which have cool eyes that you can get within inches of to...
Stokes, my apologies.
I missed your last post stating you were travelling in Nov/Dec which is Bali's rainy season and be warned that it can rain hard.
This is also the start of Thailand's cool and dry season so I think Phuket is a better option. If you are taking your wife, I would...
You haven't told us the time of year that you are travelling and your suggestions of Phuket, Thailand and Bali, Indonesia are great choices but their rainy seasons are reversed which may be a deciding factor in your decision. Assuming you will be travelling soon, Phuket is now entering their...
I took the Apeks regulator to Frank at my local dive store whom I trust implicitly as he has done great work on previous annual servicings of my other regs, tanks, etc. and he confirmed what rmediver2002 and Genesis said - thank you for the posts.
Frank opened the first stage filter in front...
Continental through Hawaii and Guam is the safest route?
I'm not sure what you mean by safest, but prices are inexpensive to that area now.
I'm near San Jose, CA and just came back from Bali. The cheapest airfare to I found was:
San Francisco R/T to Singapore $478 on Singapore airlines and...
Six years ago, I saw a a similar failure while diving at Menjengan Island, Bali - a rental depth gauge was streaming a very small trail of bubbles. Although it wasn't catastrophic I saw the renter show it to the DM during the dive. The DM acknowledged it and kept us within 30 feet of the...
I went to Australia 2 years ago and the standard visa on arrival/passport stamping was fast and easy. I just filled out the forms and stood in line which went rather quickly.
I just returned from Wakatobi and the resort operator/photo pro (Steve Fish) talked down Sipadan as being degraded to the backpacker circuit. I didn't quite understand this and 3 days later asked the question again with the same response.
Seems like the standard mantra, so I'm not sure if...
