Gilboa-helicopter sinking Friday May 18- dive anyone?

Be even cooler if we could watch it sinking. I've never seen anything that big sink from under water. I can understand why he wouldn't want any of us idiots in the water when its going down. I can just imagine how many of us would want to ride it down sitting inside :D Still be pretty...

Gilboa-helicopter sinking Friday May 18- dive anyone?

I might go, I have plenty of vacation and nothing much happening Friday. I have to admit I'm currious to see it go in. Rob or Tim you lurking out there, want to go Friday. I'll give you a call tomorrow night.

Drysuit seal test in pool....how will depth change results?

My experience is that nothing will ever go wrong in the pool. I don't think it has anything to do with depth, it has more to do with Murphy's law. In theory, and who knows maybe in practice, your suit and the outside water should be at pretty close to the same preasure. If not you get the...

Big hands, small dry glove rings

I just picked up some dry gloves for my Diving Concepts suit. My suit has latex wrist seals. The rings with the latex are a tight fit for my hands, at home I can get it on if I talc the latex inside and out (out needed to get it off again). Last weekend I suited up for my first dive and...

    Built In Drysuit Hood

I had a latex dry hood installed on my suit, I cut it off the second dive. The reason was that the hood was just a shade too big, not much just enough that it leaked quite a bit. I've found a viking hood that seems to fit better, I'll find out how it works tomorrow. My only issue is I can't...

    Gilboa AOW Deep Dive

As others in the thread have pointed out Mike doesn't put forms on the web site, that was why I asked in the first place :D, I couldn't remember the form all that well. This has been an interesting discussion, even if the thread did get hyjacked for a paddlefish discussion. BTW, the one and...

Are Dry Snorkels Really that Dry?

I actually found a use for a snorkel, naturally I didn't have it with me. I was low on air coming back, and someone had spotted an octupus. The water was less than 10' deep, so sitting at the surface would have worked nicely. Having the snorkel I could have hung out for a while and watched...

    Diving Concepts--Any thoughts

A few suggestions with Diving Concept suits. Get a back entry, not a front entry. Almost all the instructors have a front entry and they all dislike them because they aren't comfortable. I have a back entry and love it. I always seem to find someone to zip it up so that hasn't been an issue...

    Good info, thanks.

    Gilboa AOW Deep Dive

One of the suggestions for AOW Deep Dive at Gilboa was to take the class to the tubes, continue down the road until you reach your target depth. Then ascend up the wall and return via the shallows. I'm not looking at debating the pros/cons of this, I just have a question about the Deep Dive...

    Dry suit and sinking feet

Socks I'm using are wool, two pair no matter what the temp. The Rock Boots aren't tight, just snug enough to keep them on. The boot size is one larger than my shoe size which works out about right with two pairs of socks, and the dry suit sock material. Not too tight, not too lose, just...

    New HydroOptix masks for spring?

Its on their web site, but no price, and a check of my favorite web sites doesn't list it yet. http://www.hydrooptix.com/ps_zero_d.html

    Dry suit and sinking feet

I'm going to try that next time out, assuming it ever warms up.

    Dry suit and sinking feet

Nice theory, but I'm not overweighted. The only bubble I, have its not that big is the one I put in my feet. My preferred diving I have no bubble, generally I hit neutral at the safety stop with no air in the BC. I only put enough air in the BC to compensate for the weight of the air in my...

    Dry suit and sinking feet

I hadn't thought about increasing the underwear in my legs, that might work. Thanks, downside is more lead. :( I guess I should have put new boots on rather than switching to socks and rock boots. Oh well, live and learn. Shame I can't use my Henderson Hyperstretch boots (too small with...

    Dry suit and sinking feet

When I'm horizontal its not a problem. If I go vertical it moves on me, or if I roll over to look for students or dive budies it can move. Rather than play games with the bubble I'd like to get it set properly and be done with it.

    Dry suit and sinking feet

I've tried just about everything except the weights around the neck. I may try them around the neck of my cylinder. When I frog kick its not a problem, but if I stop and change orientation, the air floods out of my legs and I have to put it back in my legs. Not difficult, just annoying...

    Dry suit and sinking feet

Okay, I've got a problem that seems to be the opposite of everyone else. In my dry suit my feet sink if I hover motionless. I'm using fins that have positive buoyancy, and I'm wearing two pairs of heavy socks. Before going from Diving Concepts attached boots (hated feeling the rocks through...

    Have a dry suit question??

Personally my goal when diving in cold water is to have just enough air that I don't feel a bubble moving around. My logic is that if you reach the point where a bubble can form to a signigant size it won't do much to keep you warm. I do add a bit of air to my BC at the start of the dive to...
