I don't see anything on the expelled dive center page - at least yet. For whatever reason I was a couple days behind on the instructor so I might be seeing a cached page.
So you give the student a false sense of security that they will experience a difference in breathing effort ala you fiddling with their valve before they go ooa?
Can't follow the links on my phone.
Any of those showing a DM in training being found liable for anything?
And the master diver and dive master certs are worlds apart. If someone wants to do training that they will enjoy or will make them a better diver good for them. I see no fault in...
To have a learning experience.
A DM candidate is a student and anything they do should be under the direct supervision of the instructor. They are not in charge of anything. Thus, good luck proving negligence as a DM candidate does not have any duty of care towards others. Insurance doesn't...
yaeg, you are referring to liability insurance.
If you are going to be diving a lot, diving medical insurance is still something to think about. If I was the OP and planning to be int he water a lot working on a DM program, I would get the highest level DAN offers. Its not all that expensive.
Perhaps I didn't write well. I'm not concerned about the site. More that its a terrible accident involving a LDS that isn't very far away and that makes me curious to know whats going on.
Just ask the shop if they have an instructor on staff that is also a PADI instructor. Then ask if he can give you the PADI cert too. As long as the course covers the requirements under both agencies, he can issue both cert cards.
I took a quick look at your posts. It appears you've gone from OW to a CCR and instructor in less than 3 years. You repeatedly recommend Splash Dive Center. From the sound of this post (http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/fins-masks-snorkels/416567-atomic-venom-mask-leak.html#post6296766...
You seem to know an aweful lot about this. What was your involvment?
If you were involved and you are expecting subpeonas or lawsuits directed to your attention, perhaps the prudent thing to do would be to quiet down a little bit about your opinions until you figure out what your exposure is.
I'm sure recent public complaints about their program didn't help.

To follow up from the other thread. It seems David Hays has now been expelled from PADI.

Even if they pulled him down, that doesn't necessarily mean he did anything wrong. It would certainly be understandable to take a break or quit teaching after being witness to an underwater medical event, witnessing the spouse watch the body be recovered, and be subjected to countless second...
I have access to the PADI pro site and as far as I know, there is no special section that would have this information. I can't look up his certs without his member number or his birth date, neither of which I would suspect people who don't know him personally would have. The consumer alerts...
