    March Roll Call

I found the split fins didn't do as good for me against the current. Of course in Coz hopefully you wont be doing that but its good to have the most thrust if you do have to kick for any reason. Well we booked our hotel. Got the Suites Bahia for $50/night as our favorite place Coral Reef Inn was...

    March Roll Call

Just booked airfare for March 14-19th. It snowed this week here in Louisiana so that was enough excuse for us to find somewhere to warm up. Still haven't booked dive op or hotel.

    Diving in Feb?

Read my post under "cruising and diving in May" for a report on Nassau. Note that water temp was 73 degrees at one spot and about 76 at the other. will probably be cooler in February. I wore a 3mil full suit and got a little cool but I am skinny and cold natured. Saw some others in 3mil...

    Cruise and diving in May

Glad you got it worked out. For those following the thread that may want to know I will go ahead and report my experience here. RCL changed our itinerary without much announcement thus we didn't know until late the night before that we were going to Nassau a day early. Bahama Divers accommodated...

    Cruise and diving in May

I am diving Nassau on Sunday, weather permitting, with Bahama Divers. Arriving on RCL at 8 am. BD told me that boat leaves at 9 am "sharp" with 8:30 check in. I have used cruise tracker and it appears the ship gets there about 30-45 minutes before 8 am, this is RCL, not Carnival. This should...

    Nassau~ Whch dive operation?

Tossing this around myself. Have the same itinerary on RCL. Don't normally cruise but mixing business with pleasure and want to dive Bahamas as I never have. I emailed Bahama Divers and they said its 5 min to dock, boat leaves at 9am sharp and check in is 8:30 am. If boat gets at dock at 8 am...

Going on my first cruise, need some suggestions.

Egkid how did it go? We are booking the same trip first week of December on the same boat. I have inquired with Stuart Coves about the possibility of doing an afternoon shark dive as well. I know I have to book through the cruise ship as they are their contract operator but the option is not...

    Tortola BVI

We are headed there next summer and renting our own boat to cruise around the islands. had a friend go last year on same trip and said diving was great. Probably did some of the spots listed above as they didn't stay overnight on same island twice.

I'm going crawfish diving, need recipes.

Boiling them is great but they are also good fried on a poboy, cooked in an e'touffe or made into a cream sauce and served over grilled fish, etc. I grew up on what we called a bisque. My grand dad would mix the tail meat with bread crumbs, green onions and other spices and stuff into the...

Logging Time towards my Captain License

You should be able to log time on a rental boat but be sure to get the owner to sign the Coast Guard form before you cash out. It may be difficult to get them to sign at a later date.

Another lost to Gulf of Mexico oil rig spearfishing

I think somewhere he posted a researcher had gave him a meter to record depths of fish or something and it was the first time to use it. Rok that is not the deceased.

Another lost to Gulf of Mexico oil rig spearfishing

He went too deep to try to get fish that were out of season. There is no telling what happened for sure but there is literally no bottom time at that depth. You can get into deco on descent to 160' if you don't go down fast. Scamps are usually 160ft and below on the rigs.

    Pulling my hair out

Can you try running external tanks with new hose, racors, etc directly to engine to completely bypass the existing fuel system? If it ran properly then your mechanic would be correct. If it didn't then you know that's out of the equation. I have found process of elimination works best for me. I...

Why Jeremy Anschel works for me

Mossman, yes if he could have kept the price the same and provided all this, I agree that would make it better....but...somehow I would expect the cost to go up...but I might, just might, be willing to pay more for these services

Why Jeremy Anschel works for me

Never dove with Jeremy but have been out with his crew and DM's. Best operator in Cozumel that we have tried, hands down. Only one that ever asked us "what could we have done to make your trip better" and I was speechless.
