    feedback

Hehe... My buddy has a ranger that he has FINALY decided to retire *soon* whatever that means. The pockets are starting to fall apart among other things. It's got a few thousand dives on it and he loves diving it and just doesn't want to give it up. I think he was leaning towords one of...

    Diving Accessories

Yah... Amazing... They just get behind you and wait till you do something stupid so they can get a funny picture of it. Oh wait, that's what *I* do with my camera. Never mind.

    Diving Accessories

The most valuable accessory... I'm not sure how to pick just one item. I prety much need everything I take underwater with me and if anything is missing I can't (or won't) dive so I'd say my entire minimal set of gear needed in order to dive would be it. Really, the most valuable accessory is...

    Do certs matter to you?

EDIT: I guess I should have read further first... I posted this in response to the first page or so of this thread. It doesn't really fit on the end here so well. ;) ------------------------------------------------ Hmm... I've got a whole stack of cards. So what? I got a...

    Stages

Craigs rule #2: Equipment, no mater how expensive, is replaceable. My health may not be depending on what the situation is. (Rule #1 is "Always look cool") If droping a given piece of equipment will increase my chances to get out of the water safely in an emergency, it's gone. That simple...

    DAN : Dive logs

Exactly. I have a Cochran computer that will output it's logs to the DAN required format. When I tried to send in the first batch after I got the computer and had used it for a while I hit a red tape wall and have never bothered with it since...

How many Scouts and Scouters are on ScubaBoard (Boy Scouts)

3rd generation scout... My grandfather and father were eagles with palms. Grandpa was awarded a silver beaver for his scouting work and my dad was the NJ comissioner for a year or so when I was active in my local troop. Although I only ever made it to star, I was the senior patrol leader...

Where was your first OW dive?

Hmmm... My first dives were 20 years ago... I spent 10 days on a 65 foot sailboat cruising around the Bimini islands. I was 15 on a boyscout trip out of the Seabase in the Keys but we had a large enough group that we chartered the larger boat (the largest that the scouts had at the time was...

What's the best way to necklace a backup?

Also, if you look around, sometimes you can find snorkle keeps that have a tab on the loop so its easier to use that type for an octo holder. I havn't seen any like that recently though. I've gone to the necklace and donate the primary. Even on my "rec" regulator setup.

    Question about deco software

For v-planner, I have an old 386 laptop running windows 95 that I wouldn't cry if it fell overboard or if a tank fell on it. Works OK. My budy has vpn on his palm so we use that if the laptop isn't available for some reason.

    Female TecRec BCD

I have a PRO-QD that was my first BC. I still use it when diving single 80s sometimes but that's about it. It _CAN_ and has handled a single 110 (not well, but it did) and an AL40 sling (again, not all that well). I used it for advanced nitrox & deco procedures but it was an issue. I don't...

First Time Wetsuit Purchase... NEED HELP!!!!

I dive Dutch Srings in PA in a 7/5 goldcore Henderson and dive a dry-suit in the fall/winter. Just dove the 7/5 off Ft Lauderdale 2 weeks ago and was very comfortable at 250 fsw and maybe just a bit warm at the end of deco near the surface. Just pulling off the "tropical" hood & gloves (no...

    Equipment Storage

My buddy has an unheated 10'x11' shed in his back yard we converted to a dive workshop and storage area (It looks a lot like a small LDS inside...). We run a small space heater if we need to work out there for any length of time in the winter. All of his gear, his wifes gear and most of my...

    Question about deco software

V-Planner for me too. I've done most of my deco diving with it and never had a problem.

    Changing gear for Tek Dive

Taking the advanced nitrox on a single tank setup is possible, but the instructor I DM for really, really tries to encourage students to have their own doubles and sling bottle before taking the course since it's basicaly a lead-in to the decompression procedures course anyway. There's not...

    Alert Diver Misstatement

One would think that as the ice melts the water level goes down. Ice (made from water) takes up more volume than water (as a liquid). Therefore it's positively bouyant in liquid water. BUT, some of the ice ends up being pushed out of the water due to this bouyancy... As that melts back down...
