I’m just a beginner with 117 hours on my JJ. But I did reef, wreck and cave diving.
I did use al40 and 7l tanks at my JJ. But I don’t know anybody who is using larger tanks then 7l at a JJ. (There are Gue divers using them, but almost none of them is using bigger tanks then 7l.)
RB80 divers...
If you only replace sensors as-needed, I think you will wait till you can’t use a sensor anymore and then replace it. That can be at home for me when preparing my rebreather. That wouldn’t be a problem for me.
It could be at the dive site before I would dive that could mean I would be to late...
Honestly it doesn’t make sense to sell a rebreather with 4 cells of the same batch and tell the users of the rebreather that it’s not safe the replace all the cells at the same time. I think that’s what revo does or am I wrong?
I think both methods have positive and negative things. I think the...
When you buy a new rebreather all of the cells are new and from the same batch. Or will revo or other manufacturers mount different batches of cells in their new rebreather?
(When you have 4 cells of the same batch, and one cell will fail you would replace it. When 2 weeks later another cell...
I don’t use a dilluent mav, I only use an adv.
(GUE JJ configuration)
This is enough for me when descending. I have to use my inflator for my wing, drysuit inflator, scooter and light. I also have to monitor PO2 and environment.
You can have a long discussion about a complete diver.
when I want to do a deco dive I will bring deco gas and at least 2 tanks with backgas. Skills that would be required in my opinion would be at a high level, much higher then rec divers and rec instructors. Failures during tech training...
Doing a dive as deco dive with air doesn’t make sense when you could probably do the same dive with nitrox without deco.
CMAS divers are doing deco training in a local lake with max depth 80 feet with air as backgas in a single tank and even ean50 as deco gas. They switch to ean50 at 20 feet...
When I want to ascent with 9 meter/minute and keep my body horizontally I will use my bcd to ascent.
It doesn’t make sense to keep my body vertically and swimming to ascent.
Usually I use my bcd to be neutral. But when I decent I will be negative. And when I ascent I will be positive.
During...
It will be much easier to get a lot of tech diving experience with a JJ then OC.
I have one buddy who was going to a dive center and did just a few (tech)dives in one week because there was not enough helium available.
Another buddy want to join a week of wreck diving. But it was not possible...
In the past I was always doing my dives with average depth and tables/deco software. My buddy’s were doing the same.
This year I did al my diving with my JJ petrel and my other computer both in computer mode.
I didn’t dive this year with gue buddies who were using a bottomtimer. I did more...
It depends on the situation. But most of the divers I know who are very good divers prefer to do their own dive and have their own planning and goals and dive without dive master.
They also practice their skills during fun or training dives.
They do have holidays with wife and/or family but...
At some places it’s not allowed anymore to do magnet fishing.
A lot of ww2 stuff was found in the Netherlands and Belgium. It was getting very popular in The Netherlands and Belgium.
I did also do magnetfishing but no cool finds for me
My buddy did disconnect his inflator when he was doing a bottle rotation with dry gloves and diving his JJ when his inflator was auto inflation.
I do connect and dis connect my drysuit inflator with dry gloves almost every dive.
I did had a lot of inflator failures but it was never frozen...
That is not what was told me when I told during cave 2 that I did a cave dive with a bottom stage when I was cave 1...
A few months ago a cave 1 diver post an photo of the cave with a stage on Facebook . You should have seen the comments of a gue instructor. It was not even his stage. It was...
My motivation to do training at gue is that I can join projects and dive with other gue trained people that makes it easy for me to find a buddy. (And the quality of the training is very good. But there are also other good instructors at others agency.)
But if he will choose other training...
Because I was at a dive site without buddy this year. I didn’t care if my buddy was GUE or not. I just wanted to dive.
Ten minutes later a guy arrived with a set of doubles. I started talking with him. He was also a gue diver. A few minutes later his buddy arrived.
I could dive with them. I...
