For those that missed it there was a DC Dive Show this weekend. It featured industry events on Friday followed by public access on Saturday.
There was a vendor hall with a decent lineup of vendors as well as some panel rooms in the nearby hallway with various talks going on throughout the day...
Okay the day draws near. I should be around the VA/DC/MD Scuba Meetup Group table at various times Saturday and will visit a few talks that look interesting.
I'm going to swing by tomorrow (Friday) to drop off tech goodies for booth (LED video screen) but need to bounce back to work. Then...
Okay, a bit of an update.
The flashlight is interesting. As a flashlight, it is pretty bad. The linearity of the projected light is horrible, there is one small bright spot in the middle and then a large halo. So not a very good flashlight light output. The build quality feels nice though. But...
Looking at upgrading cameras, the LX10 seems like a pretty good choice. It's just a shame that the RX100 has many more options in underwater housings. From that I can see the Ike and Nauticam are the only options. :-(
Welp, rocket launch delayed which changes schedule at work so that made the weekend easier for me.
I am helping with some tech stuff (nerd tech not diving tech) for the Washington DC SCUBA meetup group's booth so I should be there the entire day Saturday.
I need to look at schedule and pick...
1st. Hooray for saxophone!
2nd. Oh no! Maybe you have an add on to your browser that warns about external links? It's just a photo on imgur, a commercial hosting site that started as a image dump for reddit. There should be low risk of malicious content on imgur. I tried briefly to add the...
This is a bit of work in progress. As I prepare to head on a dive trip with some friends from the laser show system community I'm going to (hopefully) convert a cheap underwater flashlight into a green pointer.
I found two existing units on the market. One is fairly expensive at $100, and it's...
Hello. Any other locals planning to hit the DC Dive Show? It's Feb 22nd and 23rd. I will be there on the 23rd. I would be down for a meet and greet or something if other SB'ers are interested.
dcdiveshow.com has schedule and information.
Looking to sell my AP Inspiration.
Unit has very little dive time, great condition. Has aluminum hammerhead controllers with hud led/vibrator, and cable for optional additional computer.
Two latches are broken, which is common on these. Tanks will need hydro. I bought Inspo in Norfolk, it...
In surface mode I assume it would fire the solenoid? Would it freak out/buzz if the PPO2 gets close to critical level?
If you opened then closed the valve the xmitter will read the high pressure (minus any that leaks over time) unless the solenoid fires. It wouldn't be a validation that the...
Geek here with a pretty solid understanding of CCRs. No cert (have inspiration classic + hammerheads but no place around me to get cert! So I backburnered the idea.)
1. The modern controllers aren't much bigger than a normal dive computer. So power conservation is a thing. Companies are doing...
I was thinking the same thing, but each way seems to add a lot more complexity breaking KISS rules.
I suppose the easiest way I can think of is to have a pressure sensor on the o2 hose between tank and solenoid, fire it quickly when splash detected and see if pressure drops a lot. But then...
