Where would you live in Florida?

How often are you REALLY going to go diving if it’s a 3+ hour drive one way? I would keep that in mind. An hour or so isn’t a big deal. Three hours? You’re going to have days that you’re just not going to want to make that drive. That and a drive like that is taking away from time you could...

Is it possible to travel responsibly (during a pandemic)?

That has been a huge part of the problem over the past year. People “don’t feel sick,” so they feel free to travel. It’s well documented that a significant amount of case growth is due to asymptomatic carriers. I’m not going to wade into the topic of whether or not people should travel. Just...

    Wanting to go streamlined

Yup. It’s pretty easy to compensate for a pony bottle. When I run an AL40, I just run with 1lb less lead in the pouch on the left/bottle side. I’m sure it’s not exact, but it’s close enough that I don’t notice the difference.

Where would you live in Florida?

Woodbridge is in Northern Virginia. It’s ~$450k for a builder grade 50+ year old detached 3BR in a neighborhood that’s 20+ years past its prime. I waded into the housing market in that area a couple months ago and decided to throw in the towel and stick with a rental for now. The housing market...

Where would you live in Florida?

Literally anywhere in Florida would be a step up from our hood @CAPTAIN SINBAD .:rofl3:

Looking for advice on returning to diving after stress-related hiatus.

Like they said...take a step back and just try to get back to where you can have a good time with it. Diving isn’t an inexpensive hobby...if you can’t find a way to enjoy yourself, you should consider moving on to something else. That’s one thing that I just don’t understand about some...

I thought it was entertaining, as well.

When to render assistance and when not to?

I think you should give your buddy some space, but that you need to be close enough (your call on what that distance is) that you can render assistance if needed. If you’re not close enough to render assistance, you’re not a dive buddy...you’re just sharing the same body of water. As far as...

    Taboo

Yes. It’s interesting (to me) that some people will go dive with a train wreck of an insta-buddy without giving it a second thought, but they consider diving solo (no one to babysit) to somehow be more dangerous.

This guy cruised past us at Crescent Bay

:rofl3: That’s a new one for me. Thank you.

    Neutral al80’s anyone?

Yup. Just buy used HP100’s. If/when you decide to sell them for whatever reason, you’ll get your money out of them. I’ve seen neutral AL80’s for sale a few times. They generally don’t move/sell quickly (locally...at least). That should tell you something (OP). Literally the only downside (my...

    Diving watches

The Rolex Submariner used to be a tool watch. The modern Submariner is a luxury watch. From a functional standpoint, there is literally nothing that it can do better than a Citizen Eco-Drive. You want one? Go buy it. Justify the purchase to yourself however you need to.

    Diving watches

I’m the only male in my family that doesn’t own at least one Rolex (each has a Submariner). If I’m going to spend $7,000+ on a hobby... it’s going to have two or more wheels. Ex. Motorcycle, Jeep, etc. I can’t wrap my head around spending that kind of money on a watch, but that’s just my two...

    Din to Yoke Insert

Yes...or that. I’m assuming that if he’s asking this question...for whatever reason...he likes diving with a yoke first stage. Buying a DIN first stage would allow him the option to flip between the two options quickly (ex. Dive trip with only yoke tank options) without having to screw around...

‘East Button’ = Get a DIN 1st stage. Problem solved.

Will boat prices go back to pre-covid prices once the pandemic will be over?

Yup. I would gladly pay a little more for that reason alone. Agreed. Assuming the same demand and supply/quantity of operators exists after the dust settles. Unfortunately...I’m still discovering businesses in my area that didn’t survive the downturn. Ex. Went this past weekend to hit the...

Losing weight when you don't have time to lose it

That and a big issue for me was staying up too late. Even if you eat a moderate dinner at a reasonable hour...if you stay up till midnight or later watching TV or doing whatever, you’re going to be prone to snacking. One key for me was going to bed a bit earlier. When that didn’t...
