I think that’s the key word here. It doesn’t appear to be continuous. However, the cracks appear to be essentially in a straight line, which I have to assume has something to do with a fault in the metal along that portion of the tank.

From the sounds of it, it has something to do with that. Literally the only references I’m seeing to steel tanks with neck cracks are “SPUN.” I didn’t have an issue with my last two SPUN steel tanks, but I will obviously keep an eye on the “good” one and not buy anymore of them. I will blow...

Definitely looks like cracks in the pictures that I received. On the higher magnification...to me...it looks like another crack is forming (above the obvious ones).

Im not talking about everyone that chooses to own a PLB. I said “some” people.

A PLB is a great tool for someone that happens to find themself in a bad situation. The problem with PLB’s is that they embolden some people to place themselves in bad situations because they think “If something happens, it’s ok. I’ve got a PLB.”

If she fell, suffered a head wound, and was not well (ex. Concussion)...you’re assuming that she’d think of the PLB. The more prudent move would have been to pick a less remote trail if you were planning on hiking solo. What’s the real story? She’s VERY lucky to be alive.
