WANTED: Backscatter Flip2 Flip-up Magic Filter for GoPro HD (first GoPro)

Subject says it all. Do you have one you want to sell? Or do you have one you'd rent me for a few weeks? If so, PM me! I'm owner of an original GoPro and was early into a custom underwater housing and mounts galore. Never jazzed about the unfiltered underwater image quality, though. The Flip2...

Deaths at Eagles Nest - Homosassa FL

I didn't understand the poster to be suggesting the state limit access. But rather stating that shops/instructors shouldn't take untrained divers there. Why? Because those who are teachers and leaders have to carefully consider the possible interpretation and results of their actions in ways...

Albany woman dies diving off south jetty in Newport, Oregon on Sunday.

I am *so* late to responding to this, but oh well. Yes! I forget that so many divers who are certified don't really... THINK... about diving. I had this conversation with some divers recently and 1)none knew the lift capacity of their BC -- didn't even know BALLPARK when I asked them to guess...

What's the word on Cozumel spots? Blue Angel Resort? Scuba Club Cozumel?

First time in Coz was Scc. 2, 3, 4th time is Blue Angel. We're here right now in fact. :) The beds at SCC were just unbearable. Could not sleep. The food was bland and overall pretty boring. The dive op was great. We just preferred the vibe at Blue Angel.

    Disturbing news ??

I searched news outlets and asked one or two contact I have, and the response was, "What?" I'd like to hear input from those in the know -- how is Cozumel these days for tourists? I've only been visiting a few years, and the usual warnings remain (tourists doing stupid things are exposing...

Albany woman dies diving off south jetty in Newport, Oregon on Sunday.

I started this thread in hopes that someone with more information could fill in the blanks. Given the scant information provided, we could all come to the obvious critiques, but they are somewhat meaningless verbal showboating without specific information. It is especially tragic when someone...

New way to wear a BP/W

Um... BDSM style? That's... pretty freakin' hilarious.

Albany woman dies diving off south jetty in Newport, Oregon on Sunday.

I am a diver in Oregon who has heard of this through other divers. I was not there and do not know the divers involved. Newport: Lady scuba diver drowns off Newport’s south jetty » News Lincoln County Albany woman drowns off coast of Newport while scuba diving | OregonLive.com

Everything worked out great and now we're REALLY scared!

My concern is that your wife apparently had no situational awareness. She doesn't realize "there is no bottom" until discussing it days later, and then you have to point it out? Yes, seeing the nifty sea critters is fun. But you've got to understand the bigger picture before you even touch the...

14yr old came up at end of 2nd open water dive and is now scared

At some point in training, people can have their moments. I came home from my first pool class in my PADI OW class... and bawled my eyes out. I blubbered and cried that it had terrified me, I wasn't sure I could do it... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! My husband, certified for some years, was supportive...

I finally get it: paddles vs splits.

Cuz I might need to. :) I don't plan of course going all out, but I do need to juice up some muscles so that if I need to for a short period, I can. I will certainly be doing the DM test swims in splits, and I'd take splits for any easy going warm water diving.

I finally get it: paddles vs splits.

To be completely accurate, it could be done; but the resulting power was about... 1/10... what I've found I could generate with paddles after using them for just four dives over a 24 hour period.

How do you deal with derision?

I acknowledge that apparently many people have had run ins with divers of a certain type who have left a bad taste in their mouth. Individuals, groups, or entire organizations can certainly be a-holes. All I can say first hand is this: In the short time I've been diving, 1.5 years here...

I finally get it: paddles vs splits.

What out-of-water exercises would one do to strengthen legs to better handle flat out swimming in paddle fins? The flat out swim for distance/speed was what I found the most challenging in the paddle fins once I got comfortable with them. OP is a chick, btw. ;)

Wanted: Uwatec IR778 IR via USB interface

A long shot, but thought I'd ask -- anyone have one of these lying around they need to sell off to a loving home? :) PM me, please, and let's make a deal.

I finally get it: paddles vs splits.

EDIT: I am posting my thoughts and experience. I am not telling anyone else what to dive. I will of course keep my splits and use them in certain situations. I've read, thoroughly, the reviews, discussions, and pissing matches about split vs paddle fins. In 1.5 years of diving and 100 dives...

    Fundies kicked my a$$

Lynn, this is not the first time I've read a post of yours and said to myself, "Yes! That's what I want!" :) I'm looking to get a taste of UTD by maybe taking their Essentials class, maybe later I'll look at Fundies. I want to tweak my own abilities, but also get a taste for the different...
