What's the hardest class you have taken, and what made it hard?

Basic OW was a challenge... the PADI instructor the wife and I had was a real meat sausage, he kept texting and calling my wife for six months after the class… At least California has some good anti-stalking laws because PADI and the LDS didn’t care.

Be honest on your dive - No need to be macho!

Great point, in fact most new divers dont realize there's any issue until its to late.

    Which Spring Straps?

The XS scuba do wander, I have found that it has not been an issue while diving, the tention of the spring keeps them inplace. I like the fact I can move it when I am wash my gear.

learning to dive in a week?

I have been on a lot of dive trips over the years, you can (almost) always pick out the resort (slam dunk) divers. As a few have already indicated, do your classroom and pool tasks before you go. Then get a referral to a LDS at your destination (for your open water dives).

Boat Diving :: Cozumel VS Maui...and the winner is...!

When you compare dive destinations, you are comparing “Apples” and “Oranges” Each destination has its own distinct identity, and when you talk to “Some Divers” they will say that Hawaii is better then, well you name it. IMHO, they are all great; it mainly...

Bad Back and Sore Knees... What type of Fin is Best????

Find a LDS that has a pool or a demo program to test dive different fins. I have found my LDS will accommodate a test dive of most equipment, I explained my knee issues (both have been replaced) and they were more than accommodating. In fact I was so impressed with their customer service I...

    Playa Del Carmen vs Cozumel

Be Careful.... once you dive in Cozumel, Playa del Carmen will be a disapointment.

    Dropping in to say hello..

I started logging dives back in the 70’s then got lazy (because I didn't see a need). I have since learned the importance of logging and tracking dives. In any case, welcome back

    Not Going to Lurk Anymore...

I used to say “being cold, was being unprepared” but I have been taught you can’t prepare for everything.

Last minute trip leaving Saturday 10/08. Need recommendations

It’s hard to satisfy all of your requirements diving, food, cheap, and getting there. Cozumel has it all, and at a price that wont break the bank. I found changing ends of the island, or even staying in town, and trying a different dive operator made the island feel NEW again.

    First Wetsuit Purchase

Before you buy any suit, remember...location, location, location. Buy what you would normally dive with at home, and the first time you go somewhere else (rent one), you will quickly know if you need to expand your underwater wardrobe to include a Shorty (which you may only use once every other...

    All Inclusive Resort recommendations??

I have used Chucho Divers for most of our dives and what loved the smaller groups and individual attention.

    All Inclusive Resort recommendations??

As with all “all inclusive resorts” you get what you pay for. Total packages that include diving are great because you know what the bottom line price is for the trip. but you could be on larger boats. When you book the Hotel/Air separate from the dive package you can shop around...

    BCD choice...

Besides the Fit, another point to consider, How well will the BCD travel (Pack), and does it have all the features you need… pockets, etc.

    How many is too many?

We are all saying (about) the same thing. :D I think there should a simple correction... A bunch or divers should be referred to as a "School" or "Pod", not "Herd". (even on shore)

Dive caddy - airline carry on solution

I just discovered the Dive Caddy, at a local dive show. I have to say I haven’t gotten the packing right yet, but I can see how it WILL SOLVE my travel woes. I will be working on placing some of my less critical equipment in my single checked bag, and Caddy the rest. I am also thinking I...

    How many is too many?

I have found the size of the group is less of a factor; the key thing to consider is "What CAN the destination Dive Operator handle" As noted; the larger groups typically split on their own
