Twin 45's back from Hydro and valves/manifold rebuilt.

I bought a 1950's vintage Singer sewing machine for $100 that I use to sew webbing using upholstery thread. Once you dial in the machine settings it works great.

Vintage aqualung steel tank and backpack

The backpack with no BC is great for warm water diving. You will not believe the sense of freedom you get using this setup. Swim suit, mask, fins, depth gauge, watch, backpack, tank and regulator is my favorite way to dive. I don't need a weight belt and run tables in my head.

    Failed Hydro

I had forgotten about that thread, went back and reread it. It is probably the best hydro related thread here.

Incorrect, old dive shop tale, at anytime if the tank passes the specifications to qualify for the plus it can be plus rated even if it wasn't for X number of previous hydros.

can a H.P. pressure gauge hose stand up to constant long term pressure?

The plug usually has "Do Not Remove" stamped on it if it is pressurized when the valve is closed. Some USD valves are like this.

    LP 72's...again.

They appear to be vinyl coted over galvanize by the fact there doesn't appear to be much rust where the hydro stamp is. Some were galvanized under vinyl some weren't.

How to remove Seized Din Insert

Here is my theory why using heat works best. Heating the part causes the trapped air in the threads to expand and vent out. Spraying immediately with penetrating oil cools the part creating a partial vacuum in the threads and sucks in the oil.

How to remove Seized Din Insert

impact guns almost never strip the hex heads. It's when people try to use cheater bars or just crank on it that they strip. Impact guns are used for a reason on seized bolts, same with tightening first. Steel is one thing brass is much softer. This is a video I made removing a frozen screw...

How to remove Seized Din Insert

I would disassemble the valve and heat the stuck insert with a propane torch, then cool with a wet towel and try to remove it. I sometimes have to use something like Aero Kroil along with heat. I have disassembled many old frozen vintage valves this way with no damage. All I see with using just...

    A problematic problem

Back in the days of shiny chrome regulators it must have been common for the regulator to get attacked, LOL.

    Tank tumbling hell.

I use a 15" length of 3'/8 tubing with a tee on one end and 2 valves. One valves connects to the hot water in my service sink, the other connects to air from my compressor. After tumbling I invert the tank with the tube in it, turn on the hot water, let it rinse until the tank is too hot to...
