    Pony Bottle Set-up

That and there are places (ex. Quarries with controlled access) that you can’t dive solo unless you have a solo cert. I’ll get the cert at some point because: 1. The course curriculum would be nice to know, and 2. If I want to go diving locally and can’t line up a buddy that day, I’ll still be...

    Pony Bottle Set-up

Yup. On a long enough timeline...if you dive enough...everyone is going to experience some kind of regulator issue that causes them to have to either: 1. Fix yourself on the spot, 2. Rent a regulator set from a dive operator (if that’s an option), or 3. Not dive that day if options #1 and #2...

Black Friday... that time of year... wish list/unnecessary purchase?

Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to squeeze into either of those. In the case of the Pinnacle, I think I’d be a 4X.

Infuriating (to me) scuba scene in a car commercial

If I remember correctly, they compensate members for appearing in their commercials. The person that filmed that probably just captured those guys doing their thing.

Black Friday... that time of year... wish list/unnecessary purchase?

The only thing I’ve been keeping an eye open for is a deal on a thick wetsuit or semi-dry. Ex. Pinnacle Polar M8. I’m not seeing any deals so far. Ex. Old stock.

    Pony Bottle Set-up

If cost isn’t an issue...just put together a dedicated pony bottle regulator setup. Convenience wise, it’s nice to not have to screw around reconfiguring regulator setups depending on the occasion. Even diving solo, I just keep the two second stages on my primary regulator setup. That’s just...

    Truck for diving help

Even in the mid-Atlantic, that would be my concern, as well. I had an 80 series Land Cruiser years ago. It was never titled north of Maryland, but every fitting underneath that thing was a nightmare to remove. Ex. Even pre-treating with PB Blaster, all of the heads for the shock mount bolts...

    Truck for diving help

Only 70k miles, too. That’s the cleanest imported diesel Toyota that I’ve ever seen for less than $30k. Considering how little you get for your money these days...I think that would be a solid vehicle for the money.

    Deciding which computer.....help!

I like my Peregrine, but if you’re just getting going and having to buy a lot of gear (I’ve noticed your other threads) and money is tight...I’d say get one of the two less expensive options for now. Later on, you can always upgrade if desired when some $$$ frees up.

    Truck for diving help

There is no diesel for option for the Tacoma in the U.S. As far as I know, the only diesel option in the mid-size U.S. truck segment is in the Chevy/GMC Colorado/whatever GMC calls it. I wouldn’t want to screw with a light duty diesel that meets U.S. emissions requirements. The juice just isn’t...

    Truck for diving help

That is definitely the case. The issue though is that dealers in my area pretty much don’t stock the SR or SR5. If you want a 4WD crew cab Tacoma locally...it’s going to be a TRD.

Yeah...the last time I considered the Tacoma, the choices locally were the TuRD Off-Road and TuRD Sport. Toyota is even worse then GM and Ford, as far as packages go. Ex. Just want the JBL audio system as an upgrade? You’ve got to pick a TuRD, which is going to end up being ~$40k out the door...

    Truck for diving help

I’m trying to make sense of the Tacoma trim levels. For someone that’s used to minimal creature comforts (ex. Manual climate control), what is the primary reason to pay up for the SR5? It looks like the SR has Apple Car Play and backup camera, which I would want.

Yup. That’s the same thing that I’ve always heard.

    Truck for diving help

No doubt. Even thrifty people like me would run out and drop a stupid amount of money for a diesel Land Cruiser pick-up. I bought my current truck because the price was right. I would be like “shut up and take my money” if the opportunity to buy one of those came up. I just have a hard time...

The Tundra is assembled in the U.S. I read something a while back that said that as far as part sourcing goes...the Tundra is more American than most of the big three trucks.

    Truck for diving help

There’s a legit/well established processed for purchasing military vehicles and titling them. From everything I’ve read...the same cannot be said about foreign sale only modern vehicles such as the Hilux, Land Cruiser pick-up, etc. As was alluded for in the linked article, I’d put money on it...

    Truck for diving help

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind a Defender some day, but I’m not spending $30k+ for a 30+ year old vehicle. That and I need something that’s daily drive-able. I don’t think I’d want to run one of those up and down the interstate at 70 MPH. Now a LandCruiser pickup (not going to happen) or a...
