    Subaru Outback ( ~2019 2.5 vs 3.6)

Agreed. I think I’ll like either, but I’m liking the price tag of the 2.5 more. It looks like I can get a 2-3 year newer 2.5 limited for roughly the same price as a 3.6 limited. I’ll see if the local dealers will cough up out the door numbers ahead of time though. If not, I’ll probably just go...

    Subaru Outback ( ~2019 2.5 vs 3.6)

That’s my main hangup with the 3.6. I’m not going to say that I don’t care about fuel economy, but I’m coming from a truck that averaged ~19 mpg. Any car is going to be a step up, economy wise. I may just go do a longer back to back test ride this weekend and see if that helps.

    Subaru Outback ( ~2019 2.5 vs 3.6)

Looking at getting a Subaru Outback. I’ve driven two...a 2.5 premium and a 3.6 limited. I liked both, but I liked the 3.6 more. For anyone that has one or the other...what are your thoughts? The perks of the 3.6 seem to be less engine noise in the cabin and more power (duh). Any buyers remorse...

    Vehicle question

That’s exactly what it is. My old neighborhood had a rash of vehicles ransacked and items stolen. The individual(s) would go house to house in the middle of the night and check the doors of vehicles parked in the driveways. They’d take whatever they could stick in their bag(s) and go on to the...

Anybody making 30 to 60 thousand lumen dive lights? Besides Big Blue??

That’s the reason that I’ve heard some folks don’t go with brighter lights. Supposedly that gets worse the bright the lights (so I’ve heard, at least).

    Ooh. I like the green.

Anybody making 30 to 60 thousand lumen dive lights? Besides Big Blue??

Check out the Cooper River Divers group on Facebook. People post up their lighting setups there. Most use multiple helmet mounted lights or a single handheld. My two cents...I’d rather have smaller lights that I can easily swap out batteries for. The operator that I dove with did the same. He...

Anybody making 30 to 60 thousand lumen dive lights? Besides Big Blue??

No, I mean that diving in those conditions, you don’t need 30,000 lumens. Black water diving with four 1,000 lumen lights makes it seem like it’s a day dive. That’s why I prefaced my post with “have you considered...?”

Anybody making 30 to 60 thousand lumen dive lights? Besides Big Blue??

Given the location and jug in his hands...I’m guessing black water diving. OP...have you considered three inexpensive 1,000 lumen lights and mount them to a helmet? Have one 1,000 lumen light hand mounted (ex. glove) to sweep).

    Diving with alligators

I saw one once in SC. Surfaced, did a 360* to see what was around while I was waiting on the boat, and there was an alligator floating by 40’ or so away. The boat was 150’+ away in the opposite direction (had to turn around and take my eyes off my new buddy to see where the boat was)...

    1997 Deep Dive/Shark Attack.

I can only imagine what they went through. I had two great uncles that were on a cruiser that was sunk early in the war. If they served in modern times...they would have been diagnosed with PTSD.

    1997 Deep Dive/Shark Attack.

Guys tied themselves together with whatever they could find to keep groups together. Really the only thing to do with the dead was remove them from the group/let them float away. That was done primary because, as mentioned above, the survivors noted that the sharks were drawn to the dead. The...

    1997 Deep Dive/Shark Attack.

I wouldn’t be based upon that. See some of the accounts from survivors of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. Sharks were primarily interested in the dead. That’s not to say that sharks didn’t attack and kill people, but that the majority of their attention...per witnesses...was focused on the...

Are these old tanks any good?

This. You should be able to find used late model AL80’s for ~$100/each. In hydro and vis.

Shipwreck charter dive / public or private

Is that a thing? I’d be surprised if someone would just take a random dive charter with unknown divers to a site that they have salvage rights to. I would be game to tag along though.:D It’s not exactly what you’re looking for, but given your location OP...have you hit the Cooper River? People...

    Pony Bottle Set-up

I think that’s what it boils down to. Some people are just not going to be comfortable diving without a buddy. As you said...there’s nothing wrong with that. “A man’s got to know his limitations.” ~Harry Callahan.

Help Please: Pinnacle Wetsuit Sizing (Polar M8) for a big guy?

I’m currently wearing a Henderson Thermoprene Pro 5mm in 5XL. I’m 6’3”, 295 lbs, wear 42” pants, and have a 48” chest. I bought it when I was at ~330lbs. Having lost some weight, I’m no longer anywhere near as cold tolerant as I was. I previously wore the 5mm all winter. I want to go to a...

    Pony Bottle Set-up

Unfortunately not. You could have Tec, DM, Rescue, etc. if you don’t have a Solo cert, you aren’t diving Solo. If you get cute and check-in saying that you’re going to meet a buddy and get caught diving solo...you’ll get the boot. I’ve done black water dives solo and solo dives to 105’ in the...
