Woman rescued after 12 days in Zion NP?

Care for your fellow human being? Yes, she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation. As you are (I’m assuming) angling at, I don’t typically feel the need to jump to negative assumptions about someone in this kind of situations. That doesn’t change the fact that it is a human interest piece and will...

Woman rescued after 12 days in Zion NP?

She was found covered in bruises. Hypothetical...If she tripped, fell down a slope, and whacked her head into a tree (as stated), it’s possible that she sustained an impact injury to her head (concussion), but did not have a nasty or even visible head wound. Not saying that’s what happened, but...

Steel Tank Condemned: Cracks in Threads?

That’s exactly what I’m going to do with it. When the crack was discovered, the shop spoke with a PSI cylinder certification instructor. He expressed interest in getting ahold of it to use as a certification class example if I decided to condemn it. He has examples of cracked aluminum tanks for...

Steel Tank Condemned: Cracks in Threads?

I went from diving Asahi HP100’s (I had a set previously) to PST HP100’s. I can’t say that I noticed a difference between the two. That’s just it...it’s not worth my time to mess with it. Let’s say I find a place out of the way that’ll certify the thing. Pretty much no facility like this is...

Steel Tank Condemned: Cracks in Threads?

I think that’s the key word here. It doesn’t appear to be continuous. However, the cracks appear to be essentially in a straight line, which I have to assume has something to do with a fault in the metal along that portion of the tank.

Steel Tank Condemned: Cracks in Threads?

From the sounds of it, it has something to do with that. Literally the only references I’m seeing to steel tanks with neck cracks are “SPUN.” I didn’t have an issue with my last two SPUN steel tanks, but I will obviously keep an eye on the “good” one and not buy anymore of them. I will blow...

Steel Tank Condemned: Cracks in Threads?

Yup. From looking around, it is pretty obvious that this is extremely uncommon. *hit happens & better luck next time.

Steel Tank Condemned: Cracks in Threads?

Definitely looks like cracks in the pictures that I received. On the higher magnification...to me...it looks like another crack is forming (above the obvious ones).

    Calvert Cliffs MD fossil dive

Westmoreland State Park falls on NOAA chart 12285_01. Right between Horsehead Cliffs and Stratford Cliffs is where the WSP trail hits Fossil Beach. Compare with google maps to get an idea of what it looks like. Zoom in on the second chart down. Chart 12285_01

Woman rescued after 12 days in Zion NP?

They’re just relaying information as told to them by someone that suffered a head wound. Speaking from experience (dealing with someone that suffered a concussion)...I wouldn’t expect a detailed explanation of what happened to ever be shared if she suffered the head wound early on. Why? She...

Woman rescued after 12 days in Zion NP?

Im not talking about everyone that chooses to own a PLB. I said “some” people.

Woman rescued after 12 days in Zion NP?

A PLB is a great tool for someone that happens to find themself in a bad situation. The problem with PLB’s is that they embolden some people to place themselves in bad situations because they think “If something happens, it’s ok. I’ve got a PLB.”

Woman rescued after 12 days in Zion NP?

If she fell, suffered a head wound, and was not well (ex. Concussion)...you’re assuming that she’d think of the PLB. The more prudent move would have been to pick a less remote trail if you were planning on hiking solo. What’s the real story? She’s VERY lucky to be alive.

How old is too old to scuba dive?

It must be a slow day. Seniors are often hooked up to an oxygen tank due to smoking related illness, which they referenced early on. I’ll give them a pass on the second reference, as calling it an oxygen tank the second time around makes it more clear/less confusing to the target audience on...

Steel Tank Condemned: Cracks in Threads?

Yup. I’ll check back in after I have a chance to inspect the tank. There’s nothing else to add at this point.

    Megalodon Tooth Haul

I‘m a numbers person and I tend to equate things in terms of value (I’m selectively cheap/thrifty). The way I would put it...yes...these dives are very expensive compared to the vast majority of domestic recreational dives. However, when you look at what goes into that cost...a big boat, lots of...

    Megalodon Tooth Haul

There is a market for collector grade teeth. The vast majority of teeth aren’t in that condition though. Megalodon Teeth For Sale - FossilEra.com That being said, even teeth that aren’t in great condition are worth something. Ex. Smokey Mountain Knife Works in TN had a discount bin of ~3”...

    Megalodon Tooth Haul

They’re a great addition to a mantel or “I love me” wall, lol. Edit: I also gave some away. A few of my friends have kids that are into dinosaurs, sharks, etc. Their kids went nuts over the teeth.
