hehe, this is fun.
Ok facts:
* Subic Scuba College is legit.
[-]* Your course completion has not yet been filed with PADI.[/-] <-- filed online but for some reason got lost in the PADI shuffle or due to technical difficulties.
[-]* Andy hasn't been keeping up with his emails.[/-] Andy checks...
Air Philippines is the carrier that flies Manila - Busuanga. I remember one poster stating that he was denied the PAL sports package and the reason being that it does not apply to Air Philippines, so maybe double check to see if this holds true.
A heads up about the return flights - I went in...
AOW is what you make out of it - if you want to do really get the most out of it, I wouldn't rush it. If you want to do it for the sake of just getting the certificate, it's possible to do both in 7 days.
But I agree with the posters saying that you can do it, but with just 7 days I'd rather...
Last year I was researching the same thing and found that Patrick's on the Beach offers scuba. Also the upscale resort, pansukian (sp?).
Lyndon C is based in Surigao and got me interested in the whole area. Maybe he would know about Siargao. My search led me to some German forums and...
We usually go by our nicknames, so just call him Bakla or Bading or taba. Jag is also fine. :)
Specifically in Dumaguete, there is Scuba Ventures Dive Shop run by Snoopy that you can check out.
With 8 days, and off the beaten track diving, I'd probably fly out to either:
* Sogod Bay (potential for whalesharks sightings in March). But you're traveling 3 hours south by hire van after flying. Might get bored after 8 days though.
* Sarangani Bay. Laidback, off the beaten track diving...
hmm...I would probably fly into duma, stay at Dauin (plenty of resorts to choose from), then ferry over to bohol and stay at alona for the remainder of the trip (lots of resorts to choose from). On the last day you can off gas by checking out choco hills, the tarsiers, and what not. Not only...
Hi Jill,
although you decided on the PI for this trip, Thailand is a great place to visit and it would be great for you to head back to SEAsia in the future to experience it.
I suggest you browse the Philippine Paradise Divers sub-forum: Philippine Paradise Divers - ScubaBoard on the...
hey no problem, kupu. I'm familiar with MakDiver's shop is in Mabini (Anilao area), not sure if they have a Manila equivalent. The one in Anilao is very nice and spiffy, and I recall they had an ok selection but not as wide as DP or SW.
FWIW I liked the selection better in SW san juan over...
Out of this list: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/1368468-post22.html
I recommend Diver's Point since they have a good selection and I've dealt with them regularly. Ellen (owner) is also good about responding to her emails and facebook. The Scubaworld shop in San Juan has a wide mares...
ditto. This is an awesome review. Makes me want to lurk BSD more often.
I'm definitely signing up for the course sometime in the future. Thanks for this. (love the epilogue)
Boy Venus runs a good op and trains his guides specifically to accomodate photographers. Many international photographers stay at CO. Accomodations are rustic. As Caloy says, PM bill22 and he'll give you first hand experience. You can also find his report around here.
I agree with gravity and kupu, with just 12-14 days I would skip Apo Reef. Here are answers to the questions I can answer:
2. a better mix would be to go to a place that highlights pelagics and another that highlights benthic.
3. For convenience you'll probably want to head out from Luzon to...
