Okay so here is some pics of the buckles that I can't seem to find a match for. The brand is ITW Nexus, they still exist and are a large supplier.
The modern WSR-40, the webbing hole seems to be about similar size but the buckle is different than the (presumably really style) one on the C96...
Interesting! Not sure if you saw Angelo's post above but Sanosub is the recreational vendor of the units now:
https://www.sanosub.com/en/product/autorespiratori/
I wasn't aware that Aqualung made a unit or sold them, I assume they won't sell the FROG model to the public at large?
And yes, I...
Hah! I know someone who ended up on Pawn Stars! I think the way it goes is he thought he was going to answer some behind the scenes questions about a vintage computer, arrives, and ended up in front of the camera as the seller.
Thats the one! I don't remember it being used in any actual...
Thank you! I bought it from eBay from a seller in the USA. I had a search term setup with alert and I think it took 4 or 5 years before it tripped, I just thought the design seemed simplistic. I believe I learned about it from the old rebreatherworld site. If I see any more of them I will let...
Sure! Here are some additional photos, and I will take better ones.
3.5" floppy disk for size reference.
Not sure how receptive Sanosub will be to English language correspondence but we will see!
but we will see!
Interesting! Yea, the valve assembly looks very similar. Can't tell about the top clips but I went ahead and ... ahem... contacted SanOSub to see what they have to say! The valve assembly definitely looks pretty similar and that is where my main maintenance issue is. Much thanks for the lead on...
I think reach out is an American slang term for called. "Reach out and touch someone" was an old US telephone company slogan that doesn't work so well in modern times.
I have bought 4 different sets of ITW Nexus buckles but the modern ones are a different shape and do not seem to fit the...
Hello! I have a Castoro C96 that I take to club pool days and once a while in the shallows in the quarry outside of Richmond VA.
I believe it is a military version, but not really sure. The BCD is tactical style.
I reached out to SIEL, which is the company that has taken on the OMG stuff I...
Is this another case that if the Shearwater controllers had a vibrate or beeping function when "in red" then this incident might of been avoided? The old Hammerhead and other old CCR controllers had this simple feature, never understood why Shearwater left this out until the recent most models...
This is wild, I am heavily involved with the Vintage Computer group/museum at Infoage. A bunch of us down here in Virginia are. At least two of us are active divers as well! Pretty cool to see this!
I am familiar with the Shipwreck museum and I heard there is a larger thing planned for the...
Hello and welcome to the nabe!
Currently the best of the "local" diving is down outside Richmond VA at Lake Phoenix. It's a nice quarry, but unfortunately traffic is back so the commute can get a bit rough. I think it's about 2.5 hours on a good day, and 6 hours on a really really bad day...
Originally the Prism2 shipped with over the shoulder counterlungs, and it's pretty darn flood tolerant. On the original setup the mouth piece is plumbed into the counterlungs independent of the hoses going to the canister in the back. It's got a good work-of-breathing and is fairly flood...
Shocked to see the news. My takeaways:
The Petrel 3, wow vibration. It was negligent that the prior models lacked it. Hammerheads had it how long ago? I guess better late than never but took WAY too long.
More pressure transponders is cool, do their in house transponders provide a greater...
