It appears the audio is half duplex but the part where the Coast Guard is asking the boat crew if they can get back to unlock the door to allow the passengers out....
I'm sure it's all speculation. It seems rare any real answers ever come out about any of the CCR incidents.
As someone else pointed out, large potential there is video footage which could shed some light. But community as a whole might never be included on any findings.
If it's a Shearwater it will indicate on display, with a total lack of offset weight motor (vibrator) or audible alert. No idea why they left those off??
The O2 sensors only see what is in front of them and take a slight bit to respond as well.
From the article: "It is understood that he had been diving to a wreck some 70m deep and was returning to the surface when he lost consciousness."
Doesn't sound like a case of splashing with the O2 off.
It would require custom valves but it wouldn't be that hard to bring valve open/closed...
Been a while on this one. I haven't given up. I rebuilt a 2nd laser diode into flashlight using some things I learned. I left the original driver board, and tried to use the LED output to trigger a transistor to fire the laser diode. This way I could pull power straight from the 3.7v 18650...
Two updates to this!
First off, I contacted Shearwater and did some testing with tursiops. Replacement transmitter arrived just in time for some diving next weekend! Super huge props to Shearwater on this one. Quick response to support inquiry and timely resolve. Makes me love my awesome...
Much thanks to tursiops! Met up with him today and cross checked transmitters/computers. It's definitely my transmitter that is at fault.
More to come!
Checked it, turned off AI mode then turned it back on. No change.
I used deoxit on paper towel, carefully wiped the points of contact between the battery cover and and ground leads.
Good call on shorting it out to discharge any capacitors that might be holding memory over battery changes that...
Ah thanks for the info. I swear I googled it before and it didn't show up.
I didn't think I had it, but at last... I don't hear anything (AM, FM, etc.)
Will ping some friends and test with their xmitters and/or computers.
If I can get one of them to bring it over, I'll post a video if it's...
Perdix AI, has been working great for 2+ years.
Single grey transmitter. Before a trip to Utila (after 7 days of diving) it did say the transmitter battery was low. I had replaced this battery before the trip, it seemed a bit odd as it was a recent swap and the factory battery lasted much...
Hall effect sensors showed up.
Got the microcontroller programmed and working, got the transistor figured out... and got it all assembled to go into the light housing.
Went diving with some people from the local scuba meetup group at a swimming pool today, and it was the perfect chance to try...
Looking for a drysuit.
Size XL Short (5'8" / 225lbs).
Trilaminate or similar material, not looking for crushed neoprene.
Boots would be size 11 if not neoprene sock.
Still waiting on the hall effect sensors for this project :-(
4 days overdue already.
If it has not arrived tonight I will eat it and buy one from Microcenter.
Hope to have progress this weekend followed by details.
