Flash sync issue - any ideas?

I recently shifted to my first DSL. Nikon D200 with Sea&Sea housing, TTL adapter, and 2 S&S strobes. My photo's are coming out very dark, yet I see the strobe fire. My biggest clue came when I turned on a modeling light, most of those shots turned out. These are daylight settings...

    Catalina Island Dive Packages

BubbleMaker, As a frequent customer of ScubaLuv I can recommend them as well. But plan on doing a day or to at the point (no boat needed) as that is a wonderful dive site. If you can get someone to give you a tour so much the better. It will be COLD on all the dives! so plan...

SDSU Lobster study equipment in L.J. Cove

Hey John, Cool project, the lobster seemed to be recovering, 25+ yrs ago the marine room -- cove had a very healthy lobster population, ( I was part of survey team then). I noticed over the years that especially the mid 80s the population was very small, now this year during our...

Anyone taken their Sea&Sea housing below 200 ft?

If we find the wreck, if the camera works and if the operator takes a worthy picture or two I'd be happy to post. Still trying to find get the numbers......

Anyone taken their Sea&Sea housing below 200 ft?

I hoping to dive a WWI sub off the Calif coast. I believe there have been very few divers on it and I thought it would be nice to get a few pics. This dive is a post RB Trimix Class capstone dive. The sub was sunk by 55mm gun fire, but has been on the bottom since 1921. May be a bust but...

Anyone taken their Sea&Sea housing below 200 ft?

Hi all, For a D200 Sea&Sea housing, has anyone had it work at say 240-250' ? I was told by the rep the housing would be ok, but they were not sure if the controls would work. May have an opportunity to dive a rare site and would like to take pictures. Thanks, Ian

i said "in 3yrs i'll get a KISS"... SHOOT me now!!

I find I have to be careful talking trimix gas-logistics and costs around OC trimix divers, they tend to get upset when I make comments of "you're only going to have a bottom time of that?" and dang my dive cost for gas is $6 and you spend $250 and then only have 15 minutes to see the site. I...

    My CCR course - report

Almity, My wife had no interest in RBs no matter what I said, until she heard 3 lady's come out of the water (low 50's) and loudly proclaim that was first time they've ever been warm diving that time of year, then her interest began. The amount of warmth though does vary amoung the...

    Advice needed for wantabee newbee

One thing I would add, is when you seriously are considering getting into a CCR is that you evaluate yourself. CCRs require a very detailed oriented person, most of us are considered anal by our friends. This is required because the technology for RBs has not reached that of OC. Gill's...

Does anyone know what its called?

Hello all, My Bioseal has arrived, and it is not what I expected. Has anyone used one before? There are no instructions. Do I need to lube one side etc, it appears that if I just pull it on it will stick to itself. Looking for guidance for first time use. The problem with my...

Does anyone know what its called?

Thanks all, DUI is in San Diego, since I live there, I just had them take care of the sizing there. Both the bioseal and and using a neoprene cover may work. Heck sounds like a good use for one of my old wetsuits, trimming a piece off a leg might work. If not I'll get the bioseal...

Does anyone know what its called?

Hello, My drysuit neck seal leaks a lot, especially if I turn or lift my head. The neck seal is fairly new and was sized (trimmed) there at DUI. I don't think its the latex seal, but rather the concave area on the back of my neck that is the problem. I believe there is a 'something'...

    Custom Wetsuits (for a woman)

It is not just the suit but how good the measuring is. My wife has a JMJ and its wonderful, the person who measured her was professionally trained and probably does 50-100 suits a month (military). One thing that you need to consider, the fit of the suit is very important to having it...

    what would you want invented

A CO2 monitor that is pratical for Rebreather use, An automatic bailout valve if .16 < PPO2 < 1.6 or O2 Tox hit combine all that with Dil controls into Rebreather so RB adds Dil or O2 to maintain Setpoint. BTW, a rebreather does not dehydrate a diver nearly as fast as open circuit.

    Wanting to dive Wreck Alley

WeDiveBC, I use my RB off the DCI boats fairly regularly. A couple of considerations to think about though. If you sign up for trip that is doing 2 dives on the yukon, then there is generally no issue doing a single long RB dive. If the plan though is to shift to a new site, let them...

What do you find to be the most user friendly dive computers

I have several very expensive Oceanic/Aeris paper weights, while I really liked them when the worked, I'm tired of paying for repairs that don't result in a working computer. Now I have Suunto's Cobra & D9. Easy to use, though the font sizes could be bigger.

    Rebreather rescue training??

Almity, Its wonderful that you are thinking about it. I'll echo some inputs that suggest you discuss the unit with your hubby during prep and afterwards. Many things have to be learned over (like bouyancy) so please don't become to alarmed if he looks a bit 'newbie' to you. As part of...

    Book-?

I concur that book was a very nice start. When I last talked to Jeff, he had dropped the idea of putting out an updated 2cd edition, and instead doing a new book with expanded coverage for things like Trimix etc. He did not let on when it might go to print though. I may be a bit biased...
